Pretty much. Worse yet, for those emergent patients without the ChinaVirus - say, they broke their leg or had their appendix rupture - here's what they get to face going into the hospital (speaking from second-hand experience from a loved one):
Understaffing, meaning a longer wait time in pain, often hours, while the few people on hand tackle whatever other problems have come in.
No loved ones on hand because "muh social distancing", and owing to understaffing, no one to consistently inform said loved ones of what's going on while they wait in their cars for another three hours or so, depending on the complications of the procedure.
Immediate or rapid discharge, even if it wouldn't be appropriate to do so, because "we need the beds for ChinaVirus," despite most of the other beds being empty.
Granted, that's all anecdotal, but anecdotes are still reality to those who have to live them. I've never been so livid in my life at how badly the medical system - both the idiotic management staff and the vainglorious "frontline healthcare workers" - have dropped the ball on this.
That's terrible. I thank god I am not pregnant now. It's actually unspeakable and we're all still sitting around. We've also flattened our society. Economy, freedoms. All of it will cause more senseless death.
It's anecdotal, but it illustrates a very good point. I too have had family experience these problems for health emergencies totally unrelated to COVID.
How many people are unable to mammograms, colonoscopies, heart screenings, any routine preventative care that will cost tens of thousands of lives over the course of the next few years?
Ohio's governor just yesterday "revised" his order to allow non Chinese virus procedures and said that he had not intended for it to be so restrictive when he issued it. If that is true, then why the fuck would he just now revise it?
More people have or will die from the lockdown than from the Wuhan flu.
A majority of those listed as coronavirus victims died "with" the virus rather than "from" the virus because hospitals need the coronavirus money. Patient in hospice develops a fever or pneumonia, rush them to the hospital to take advantage of a "presumptive" case.
In PA, several hospital chains have furloughed massive amounts of the healthcare workers since our idiotic Governer has banned "elective" procedures. The term "elective" implies one can't get plastic surgery, but you also can't visit a cardiologist or nephrologist. You know, "elective" things like heart problems or kidney failure both of which will kill more in this state in the next year than a virus.
On the bright side, UPMC, one of the largest chains in the country, is giving the lockdown a big "F U" to the Governor by opening elective procedures as soon as next week.
I don't understand why more people aren't asking this. It's a simple evaluation. How many people are going to suffer because a lack of preventative care like mammograms and colonoscopies, etc., over the next two months (plus more bc there with be a backlog once/if thing re-open.) How many tens of thousands of people will suffer or die because of this over the next few years.
Similarly, how many people will be driven to suffer through depression and substance abuse because they have been financially crippled?
How do hospitals receive money for reporting COVID cases? I've not heard about this.
My mother has cancer. They found the tumor early enough to not worry too much about it. Went to go schedule a day for surgery to remove it. That was the same day they said no more elective surgery. So they wont remove it until she is actually about to die from it, maybe.... She is pretty old.
People are waiting until near death to go to the doctor. We are going to see a huge uptick in heart disease, diabetes and cancer deaths. No cancer screenings, if someone thinks the might be having a heart attack they are staying home vs. going to the ER just to be safe. They are so scared that if they step foot in the hospital they'll catch the virus and die. The fear-mongering is costing more lives than it's saving.
Agree. The consequences of halting all preventative care for two months (plus more considering the inevitable backlog once/if re-opened) will far outweigh COVID and will last for years.
Health insurers have to be rolling in dough. All those sweet premiums just keep rolling in, with few expenditures! They're raking in money hand over fist.
That's gay. If you have not ever had an echocardiogram proving no cardiac shunt, afib and neuro symptoms is urgent. Brain and spine can come later, but you should really insist on a cardiologist.
Are they even talking people in for cancer screenings? Some other countries have stopped it. With doctors working in that field warning of an explosion of cancer deaths because they weren't caught early.
I think around 600k people died in the US last year of cancer.
Several health providers are no longer providing mammograms, colonoscopies, nephrology examples, routine preventative care that will far outweigh the flu in the coming years.
I know... because of a medical condition I have to have my wisdom teeth removed in a hospital OR. It was supposed to happen 3 weeks ago but has put on hold "indefinitely"... I'm about to pull these things out myself.
True at my hospital. When we had limited information, this approach made sense. Flatten the curve, allow resources to accumulate.
We did that! It worked.
Now is the time to back off, allow elective procedures and non urgent office visits to happen again. We have the capacity. If it get way worse, we can back off again.
But I doubt it will.
This is very true my grandfather decided to say fuck you to kaiser because they were helping him. He made a statment uesterday by pulling up to the covid tents outside of the hospital emergency, getting out of his car and blasting himself three time in front of the doors. Their neglegence left him out there shot and dead for 7 hours in front of the EMERGENCY ROOM.
They're secretly giving all these people a chance to actually live longer. Elective surgeries where they kill the patient anyways, then charge the insurance, government, or estate hundreds of thousands for the privilege?
What do I know? My mom in her mid 50's went to the hospital for a UTI. A month later her heart, lungs, and kidneys all failed while still in the hospital. She was conscious and coherent for a week. They sedated her and she never woke up. Then they murdered her and billed the insurance company over $2m for it.
Wrongful death lawsuit? Why even bother. We just need to round up all healthcare workers and execute them like they kill so many innocent people every year under the guise of "healthcare"

Lost my sweet second at 38 weeks...Praying for the momma. 😓
Hope her family sues that hospital for malpractice.
That's terrible. I thank god I am not pregnant now. It's actually unspeakable and we're all still sitting around. We've also flattened our society. Economy, freedoms. All of it will cause more senseless death.
Were the hospitals understaffed?
It's anecdotal, but it illustrates a very good point. I too have had family experience these problems for health emergencies totally unrelated to COVID.

SORRY, NO VISITORS. HOSPITAL POLICY BECAUSE COVID.
My how the goalposts fly!
🎶🎶The wheels on the goalposts go squeak squeak squeak🎶🎶
🎶Squeak squeak squeak🎶
🎶Squeak squeak squeak🎶
But SCIENCE! Why do you want people to die!!!
We flattened the economy!
Should be the first industry to open up immediately
Ohio's governor just yesterday "revised" his order to allow non Chinese virus procedures and said that he had not intended for it to be so restrictive when he issued it. If that is true, then why the fuck would he just now revise it?
Or how about don't issue Draconian, restrictive measure in the first places.
States should not have the right to shut anything down. Government is incompetent and incapable of making the right decisions.
"uwu I made an oopsy poopsy with my penny wenny"
We Flattened our Economy

Fuck governor Wolf
I'm having an issue right now. I have an elective procedure I need done right now. Getting worse every day and causing me pain.
Thanks Karen. I'll just keep trying alternate methods to keep the pain down and slammed Ibuprofen.
Hospitals are laying off their healthcare workers. Here in upstate NY the hospitals are pleading for Cuomo to allow elective procedures again.
My mother has cancer. They found the tumor early enough to not worry too much about it. Went to go schedule a day for surgery to remove it. That was the same day they said no more elective surgery. So they wont remove it until she is actually about to die from it, maybe.... She is pretty old.
I am with you on this. Same boat.
That’s considered elective???
Yes, not sure why.
Prayers for you mom. Take good care of her.

People's health insurance was also flattened.
Flattened by Nancy Antoinette in 2010. We used to have great, low deductible health insurance.
Health insurers have to be rolling in dough. All those sweet premiums just keep rolling in, with few expenditures! They're raking in money hand over fist.
You could be suffering from a deep sinus infection. Do a televisit - you might need antibiotics.
It's a very real glimpse into a future with nationalized healthcare.
That's gay. If you have not ever had an echocardiogram proving no cardiac shunt, afib and neuro symptoms is urgent. Brain and spine can come later, but you should really insist on a cardiologist.
Yesterday, I heard on the radio that medical personnel in new York were overwhelmed.
CDC so competent! Big bloated government agencies are the answer to all our needs!
Said no patriot, ever!
But CNN told me it was a warzone out there...
HERE IS FOOTAGE FROM
ITALYNYC TO PROVE IT!!!1!Nope, that was just footage from a gun show in Kentucky.

At a hospital (Geisinger Wyoming Valley) for an ultrasound. It is a ghost town here. Parking lot usually full, now empty.
It’s all going according to plan. But whose plan?
I know... because of a medical condition I have to have my wisdom teeth removed in a hospital OR. It was supposed to happen 3 weeks ago but has put on hold "indefinitely"... I'm about to pull these things out myself.
We flattened the country
Local children's hospital furloughed 570. Losing $1 million a day
TRUE.
And they're still not opening medical care back up even though they're reopening other businesses (here in texas)
Should've happened in fucking phases. These dumbasses. Trump better make accountability happen.

I hurt my knee and my primary gave me a refferal for a specialist. I haven't been able to get an appointment due to limited office hours.
