They're doing their fucking jobs! At some point in their life they didn't know what else to do, so they went to nursing school. Maybe they even wanted to be a nurse. There is a good chance there was already a nurse in their family. That being said, this is where the path fucking led them! To their career. They aren't special. If anything they are cynical and judgemental of the people they care for. Many of them are women and therefore have some maternal instinct to fall back on. But they take cues from the sociopath narcissists doctors they work for. If they enjoy their job, they should take reward in those they are able to serve. If they don't they should fuck off! I shouldn't feel obligated to pat them on the back anymore than I would a bagger at my grocery store. Or anyone who has made a career of service!
