You're allowed to quit a job. Not quitting a job you signed up for isn't being a hero. Yes, it sucks going 13 hours without being able to take off a mask. But there are people working just as hard who get no recognition.

My daughter and I had to pick up lunch the other day and saw our favorite sub spot was open. There were maybe 15 or more people in there waiting, so I asked who was next. Turns out they all had ordered and were waiting for 2 girls to make all the orders. One of the girls looked at us and smiled through her mask and said she be with us in a few minutes if we wanted to wait. We smile back and said that'll be fine. Eventually, we ordered and were told they'll call us when its ready. Over the next 25 minutes, we watched these 2 girls, who couldn't be older than 22 make maybe 30 or more subs while taking phone orders too. I was glad to see the tip jar full and we also added a big tip for them as well. These two girls, with smiles behind their masks, feeding all these people, risking their own health too... no camera crews, no applause, no oohs and ahhs. Are they any less heroic during this insane time? Are they not deserving of praise? Shouldn't the restaurant workers, the truck drivers, the ammo suppliers, gas station cashiers, the people making masks by hand be getting a lot more attention than hospital staff tic tok videos?

Heros are found in more than just capes, scrubs or behind badges.

Thanks for reading. If you eat at a restaurant, leave a good tip.
