Yeah, I mean look at how panicked people were just being told “OMG, it’s worse than the flu!”. That turned out not to be true, but I think the government believed it at first since they knew it was a Chinese bio-weapon. They just didn’t realize it’d be more cheap Chinese crap.
Imagine if our ‘brave’ populace had been told the truth up front - that it was a Chinese bio-weapon. The fear, if you can believe it, would have been multiplied by 20. So I think they did the right thing by withholding that fact.
I would expect, as we get back to work, that the truth will slowly start coming out. Trump already seems to be dropping little hints. I would expect him to be working behind the scenes with our allies right now on an appropriate response. Knowing Trump, it won’t be a military response, it’ll be economic. Pure speculation at this point, obviously.
