It's not that simple. Look at what it took in my Mom's case to keep her out of the nursing home:
my Brother demanded that I travel across the Country to help him with her house, in 2005. I slept about 3 hours in over a week. This was his first big step in getting things ready. He also just missed being buried in rubble along a stretch of freeway where both sides collapsed, burying the road in over 60 feet of rock.
He got her and her husband moved out of that house and into a home he had built an addition onto for them to live into; not long after that her husband died.
She would've been completely unable to handle that situation where they had been living. That was 7 years after he called me out to help. That's some seriously long term planning.
The next 7 years before her death she was able to continue living at her new home largely because one of his Sons is a CNA who was also unemployed. And as her condition deteriorated she needed extra care from RN staff.
That took a LOT! Not everyone can do this. Hopefully you will be able to care for yours, when the time comes.
