My grandma was down there, her whole neighborhood is gone. Storm threw her across her house, she's in the ICU but recovering.

Sorry to hear that. Are the homes where she lives mostly made from wood?

SemperFidelis231 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah. A few of them survived because they're built to be hurricane resistant. Her's is still standing. Sort of. Had a lot of damage from flying debris and a tree went through a wall.

I hope that things turn out well for her and everyone else involved. I don't think I'd ever feel comfortable in a wooden house anymore even if I'm not in hurricane areas. It's hollowblocks and concrete for me with iron bars at the windows :(

So sorry you had damage! I also have been through a couple of minor ones, and even that was very upsetting.

I had to chuckle thinking about praying for you…

Dear Lord, please protect “Catturd” from the big wind

Do you understand how a cell phone works?

-22
incogneato -22 points ago +5 / -27

Yes. Via electricity.

No charge = no phone.

Charging a phone in a running car only lasts until you run out of gas.

Can't fill up car with gas if pumps don't work because no electricity.

phone or computer, you still need electricity to run it

Battery

. . . which still has to be charged from a source of electricity. Wall plug, car, generator - batteries don't last long.

This is a weird hill to die on. Maybe review your strategy.

Not necessarily. Even Amazon sells mini solar panel USB chargers to charge devices like cell phones.

Aaannnnd now you need in a lesson in how cars work. Ever hear of a car battery? Charging a cell phone won’t discharge it and you don’t need the car running either 🤦🏻‍♂️
