It's amazing how you got to jump through hoops just to get the right calendar loaded. If these devices were so fuggen "smart" it should just load the correct calendar based on your locality. It's just like they use this as an opportunity to say "fuck you, dirty Americans"
The iPhone does select a calendar based on your locality. But, it only does so when you first start the phone and select your country/region. However, it doesn't change after that.
United States is just one of the many choices that are available at setup, or now. If you choose another region, it should change to a calendar for that region.

Yeah it gives you such a relevant calendar based on your us location. Fuck aapl/msft/facebox et al.

Settings->General->Language & Region->Region
