My practice’s income is half normal. We have already had to let a couple of docs go and we have completely furloughed a number of docs and partially furloughed everyone else. I haven’t worked 4 out of the last 5 weeks because of this reaction.
The fiscal and downstream health effects of the economic shutdown are enormous. Lives, ruined. Third world starvation in the tens of millions. This can not be justified just to slow and prolong the disease duration. As long as hospitals are kept from being overwhelmed, and have adequate resources to prevent excess mortality from inadequate resources. The economy is one of the fundamental pillars of our country and these actions have been unprecedented.
