UV bulbs in most quality air purifiers

MSM acts like it's hocus pocus

This reminds me of the "forest rake" outrage. MSM intentionally misinterpreted Trump's statement as manually raking the forest.

Ignoring of course that a forest rake is a giant tractor sized machine that cleans out forest underbrush.

30 years ago my jr high science lab had a cabinet with uv light in it to disinfect the eye protection everyone shared.

Edit: one like this https://www.carolina.com/lab-eye-protection/carolina-goggle-sanitizer-cabinet/646846.pr# but whatever the 30 year old version is

6
not_a_shill 6 points ago +7 / -1

Can confirm 30 year old version was identical.

TD_Covfefe_Crusader 28 points ago +28 / -0

It is used in water purification as well. I draw my water from a lake and UV is the final stage in my system.

The humidifier built into my HVAC has an ultraviolet light built in and it's over 20 years old.

UVC - it works great. Bad for your eyes, so don't look. Releases ozone as well, so don't sniff it. Otherwise, do it!

Just be very aware that "Ultraviolet C", which is what these tend to use, is effing dangerous to use if you aren't paying attention. Blindness and fierce sunburn.

The actual industrial uses usually involve *latching boxes, etc, that prevents the light from triggering accidentally.

UVC makes ozone, and doesn't reach the ground from the sun. (UV A & B are what we normally consider 'ultraviolet' or 'black light')

Search 'nightclub blindness' if you want to be horrified. Don't be effing buying UVC for a fun lamp. (Amazon sells them without any warnings. Irritated.)

CommonSense 22 points ago +25 / -3

There is a certain wavelength of UV that is safe for humans.

45
ShrikeDeCil 45 points ago +45 / -0

Moderate amounts of sunlight are healthy even.

But the UVA and UVB that is in the wavelength region of "regular sunlight" is still something quite easy to get too much of.

UVC is the much shorter wavelengths of the "Vacuum Ultraviolet" - the part that can't get through the atmosphere very well - because it fractures oxygen and makes ozone on the way down to the ground. It has more energy per individual photon than any of the normal sunlight that makes it to the ground.

UVC is also what we use to sterilize - because it's just that nasty.

Just saying you aren't supposed to be in the room or ever look at the bulb .

There's some seriously sketchy stuff available on Ebay ... from CHYNA. Think about it. Read up on it on your own. And I don't mean the typical gibberish in the auto-translations.

We also use UV-C lamps inside our waste treatment plants. One of the smarter things Bush Jr did when he was president was put these in reach for our water supply. Since the fear was bio-terrorism, hence why large reservoirs are cornered off and guarded now.

There is a certain wavelength of UV that is safe for humans.

222 nm, to be precise.

It was used to fight Ebola, and has been used to safely sterilize hospitals, ambulances and all sorts of things.

The last video has a better explanation of the system. This is just one company, there are others as well: - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMnU3w-3ic0

Fish enthusiasts have been using them to get rid of pathogens in fish tanks for decades now - and is even safe for marine fish, which are very sensitive to changes in the water.

This must be your first rodeo. Hope you wore your chaps, as there are no brakes on this ride. Injecting UV light was approved by the EU back in 2015.

Which wavelength of UV is it? I’m unsure on the “safe” designation of one particular wavelength. Btw- I’m asking this as someone that has a tanning bed in our home. The issue comes down to dosage in my opinion so maybe you mean a safe dose? Spez - learned something today. 222 nm with a link to an nih study fron another comment. Sorry i doubted the info pede!

I'm not sharpshooting you at all, just adding to the conversation. I heard briefly that this UV wavelength is suitable for humans and an alternative for moving forward handling the epidemic and it's less in the media for obvious reasons. But you found it!👍

ShrikeDeCil 6 points ago +6 / -0

Yeah, blacklight is definitely cool. Thought you were asking me to back it up. Shrugs.

But around 2010 (IIRC from foggy memory) a nightclub somewhere in Australia(?) had just bought all new UV lights, opened up. The area had months of weird sickness "Eye pains" and odd sunburns etc before tracking it down. Can't recall specifics of the worst cases (how long did blindness last, or how many cases of cancer, etc.)

They'd bought germicidal lights. (Off EBay, if I recall).

2
momspaghetti 2 points ago +3 / -1

Dumb question but: Do household blacklights have any use for disinfecting?

6
EricCharliemella 6 points ago +6 / -0

Yes but they do disinfecting on surfaces like coils and inside of ductwork. Usually anything over 1000 CFM is too fast to kill spores in the air as it blows by the light.

If anyone is interested in a good purifier, you have to do one that has more than a just a UV bulb. Take a look at the Field Controls Trio or Reme Halo LED. The latter uses LED, so no ozone is given off. These devices have multiple parts in them all doing something different. The Reme actually has a built in Ionizer which release negative particles and those particles are thrown into the air stream and they will latch onto spores in the air. This makes the virus heavier, and bigger, therefore the virus drops to the floor, or it has more of a chance of being caught by your media filter.

FC unit is big money, like a grand. The Halo is about 700.

3
Ricky_CIA 3 points ago +3 / -0

Not really, UV-C disinfectant bulbs are a shorter (meaning higher energy) wavelength than the typical blacklight fluorescent bulb you can buy.

You CAN buy UV-C "germicidal" bulbs but you really do need to be careful with them because UV-C light will rapidly give you a sunburn and damage your eyes.

1
ShrikeDeCil 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yes. They just aren't as guaranteed.

  1. "Household blacklights" are some combination of UV A & B - both of which reach Earth in sunlight.
  2. Sunlight kills some bacteria and viruses (including, we discovered yesterday ... this one.)

The thing to watch for is the reddening of incipient sunburn. Just like too much sun, you can still have "too much household blacklight".

2
inquimouse 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yes, made in China--they sell ozonators (not to be confused with ionizers) using UV and do have warnings about the ozone but not the UV part.

lifeisahologram 24 points ago +25 / -1

How the hell does he know everything, and I mean EVERYTHING? I mean a lot of people are generalists today because of the internet. But President Trump is on another level, you can't stump the Trump.

I guarantee you can ask him anything, even something about molecular fields if that's a thing lol, and he'll have some insight on it. Hell ask him about Ariana Grande and he'll fucking know something even before the paparazzi find out.

22
Necrovoter 22 points ago +23 / -1

How the hell does he know everything, and I mean EVERYTHING?

People think President Trump doesn't listen to others. Like other good leaders, POTUS asks for input, gets people brainstorming, listens to ideas and then has people checking on the viability of the best sounding ideas. He then makes a decision on what to utilize.

By the time he is facing the press, POTUS has already done the listening, evaluating and decision making part, so it appears as if he's just stampeding ahead. President Trump does what a great leader must do, get good people working on solutions, and lead them towards the best practical solution.

Let's say (not that I believe this, personally) for instance that the disease did naturally evolve from bats and to humans and no lab manipulation was involved. We could isolate every human for a year, and eradicate the disease from humans - only to have it come right back from natural exposure.

President Trump offers solutions, not fear and wishful thinking. It's why we are going to re-elect him again in 2020!

Timeline of Trump claims proven right:

Cuomo is a drama whore who won't need 30'000 ventilators: CHECK (maximum use never broke 9000 simultaneous patients)

Masks can be cleaned and reused: CHECK (basic logic dictates penetrative steam or radiation could do this)

HCQ has therapeutic value: CHECK (evidence grade 4)

UV-light can be used to clear blood born pathogens: CHECK (impractical for CCPlague but employed in the 40's before antibiotics and for treatment of T-cell lymphoma)

We should reopen the economy: CHECK (suicide hotlines saw >300% increase in use, people are getting desperate)

Ultraviolet C light has individual photons powerful enough to split the bold holding two oxygen atoms together - the lone oxygen atoms often latch on to some other random oxygen molecule - making ozone.

That is: UV C light makes ozone directly. Which itself has a distinctive smell.

I posted on this & asked why we are not seeing more on the use of both the UVC disinfection robot & robotic pumping of a Medizone-specific ozone and hydrogen peroxide (or what ever proven sterilization product) etc vapour gas mixture l have personally witnessed being used & the business opportunity offered for people to set up their own disinfection services for business's & private properties etc over a month ago, as l have personally seen these machines in use even in war zones showing how quickly & thoroughly they can be deployed .

Here is relevant parts of a post l made back then with links to a couple of the types of robotic machine l have seen in use both the UVC disinfection robot & robotic pumping of a Medizone-specific ozone and hydrogen peroxide vapour gas mixture -

After l got out of the Military l was head hunted to go Contracting with a outfit that provided security to some of the worlds largest NGO's, or as us insiders called it the "Disaster Industry " (DI),which l did for a few years till l made bank .We spent years traveling around the world to the major hot Conflict &Disaster zones .l witnessed a Cholera epidemic first hand where we would be providing over watch observing crowds of 1000's & see waves of people dropping .

Some of the people l worked with were on the front line of the SARS pandemic & are world leaders in dealing with these cluster fucks , so naturally as we traveling around the worlds conflict & disaster zones we would talk & pick their brains for info/knowledge as well as working with them to see the situation first hand .

l believe their is a great opportunity for enterprising individuals to set themselves up in business over this SNAFU offering things like disenfection services for both business & homes .When l was working with the NGO's they could make even third world country public buildings even in conflict zones like schools, remote health clinics, public halls, churches etc into sterilized surgical facilities by using robotic sterilization units these were like over sized Roombas that would sterilize huge areas,it involves pumping a Medizone-specific ozone and hydrogen peroxide vapour gas mixture into a room to completely sterilize everything -- including floors, walls, drapes, mattresses, chairs and other surfaces. It is far more effective in killing bacteria than wiping down a room.

With this fogging unit & medical quality UV light as it robotic-ally moved around the building,it would then use a suction function to remove the airborne sterilization & after it was done the rooms etc were sterilized to a standard where complex operations including heart & brain procedures could be performed in them .

I believe there are many other business opportunities & better methods to handle this current Cluster fuck from what l witnessed first hand of how the top SARS medical containment teams operated over my years working with them in some of the worst hot conflict & pandemic ridden shit holes in the world .

Link to examples that have been around for years & commonly used

trump isn't a doctor and i'm not going to pretend that all the stuff he says is gold but maybe the medical experts were talking about experimental stuff not literally bleach and lysol.

My mom actually had this installed in our furnace when I was a kid. It blasts uv light on all the air coming into it.

I'm in HVAC. Technically the air is moving too fast past the light for it to purify the air stream. However, it will disinfect the evaporator coil and inside of ductwork.

Check out the Reme Halo LED. Newer product but seems like it does a very good job.

Holy shit. What if Orange Man is orange, because his hygiene game has been at Tesla/dragon energy level for years?

They are having a heyday making fun of his out of the box suggestions. It made me think of this possibility.

Possible Application for UV light to fight Wuhan Virus as President Trump suggested their might be. Hand held UV and power source attached to fiber optic stalk to be put in mouth where UV light can be applied to inside of mouth, particularly the back of the throat. Some researchers have suggested that this is where we collect the viral load that causes us to get sick.

Could be used prophyaltically, periodically during the day, as we get back to work. Each individual could have their own screw or snap on applicator or one could be cleansed with alcohol and reused. Think of the hand held devices that Dr's use to peer into ears or look down the back of the throat or up the nose, just with a UV light source.

Or that device Dentists use to solidify the filling stuff... Pretty sure that's UV light too.

most of your advanced water purification systems use UV light to kill pathogens.... this is not new.

It's Ultra Violent.

Many LE agencies have started using these in the back of newer patrol vehicles. 20 minutes on and it kills the germs.

I have a camping UV water purifier that runs on batteries and screws into a Nalgene. Had no idea this was "controversial" science now.

Stop using Ultra Violent lights to torment your water, bigot :)

Contractors use them in apartments and such to disinfect air duct systems.

...one of the presstitutes asked Trump is there was a way to do this to the human body... internally.

It's called Jesus.

I think he was hoping for a long UV bulb he could shove up his ass... so yeah, he definitely needs Jesus.

I have two Carrier UVC bulbs mounted in my air handler one above the coil, one below. Keeps mold and bacteria from forming on the coil or tray.

Works very well..

More data here

https://thedonald.win/p/FMlgjUID/using-constant-far-uv-lighting-i/c/

The largest area for a contaminant to make it's way to another (in any structure) is the air / disinfect the air by continuous circulation and you are golden

Ionisers are also effective.. there are small Ionisers that can be worn around the neck.
