The reason for the panic is that the virus did cause a huge spike of thousands of sick people all at once in a number of places (Bergamo, Madrid, New York) which normally doesn't happen with the flu.
Since the virus is less dangerous than previously thought, it means that, for example, millions of New Yorkers go sick within the span of a few months.
That just doesn't happen regularly. Either this thing is way more virulent (while being less deadly) than previously thought, or there is some sort of fuckery going on, like someone spreading it on purpose.
No..just like the flu...many people get it and dont seek medical attention cause their symptoms are not that bad. Unlike the flu, this boogeyman covid, has been whipped up to scare the shit out of people. With that more people would be interested in officially being tested. Explaining, in one way, the spike in positive tests, the other is straight up padding the numbers higher by testing every corps, regardless of how they died, for covid. If they are hot, you count that as a covid death. That's actually happening.
I'm not talking about the meaningless numbers that don't reflect reality and stupid models based on them.
I am saying that the things that happened in select hospitals around the world are not fake. Overall, this is obviously not the problem it was made out to be. But locally in specific places, it did have completely nonstandard, non-flu consequences and completely fucked the system that wasn't ready for it.
The question is why? Knowing that this virus is not as deadly, the number of people at the hospital meant that in those places where the hospitals were overloaded, a shit load of people got sick all at once. Like millions of people getting infected within a month. How does that happen and why in those places specifically?
You fell for the fake news that hospitals were overloaded. Every hospital in America is a ghost town. Even in NYC they hardly utilized the Navy hospital ship that docked there.
I have a friend from nyc I game with he’s in med school and knows drs and nurses. What was happening in NYC was real and they were overwhelmed but the media of course still has to exaggerate.
Washington state did some good practices like stop elective surgery and move out current customers so to make room. NYC hospitals had lots of problems before this event and did not move out non-coved patients to the ship because the money loss would have been too much for them to keep doors open.
I bet a lot of it was everyone hearing about how bad the virus was so they panicked and went to the hospital when they probably didn't need to. If you get the flu, you know you'll probably recover in a week or whatever so you just stay home and wait it out. With the media telling you the coronavirus is deadly, you're not going to have the same reaction.
Are you saying that all the media evidence from places like Bergamo are fake? Or are you implying that they're putting otherwise healthy people who would have never considered going to the hospital in ICUs on a whim?
You are 100% right. Also this is not just the flu, but it is not armageddon either. Why in my state do we have a 1% death rate of those diagnosed and in other states 10%? Is it because we are using hydrocholoroquine? There is a genetic mutation called favism that causes people with it to get sick or die if they take any of the chloroquine or quinine antimalarials, is it more common in the places with higher death rates? Are people being tested before being given the drug? Sweden has a much higher death rate among those diagnosed, but not a ton of deaths in proportion to their population, what is a life worth? What are we paying per life? Favism is extremely rare in northern populations as like cycle cell anemia it is protetive against malaria. Guayquil Ecuador is being devastated. Is it the poor sanitation and health infrastructure? Are they getting sick with higher viral loads? Is there something genetic happening?
yep I have got the flu many times in my life. Worse was probably 3 or 4 years ago, had 102-103 temp for days and really bad body aches. Guess what, never went to the doc, just drank fluids and rested.
Today people with a 100 temp are rushing out to get tested. any symptom any they rush to get tested. All on the Media. They have made this 1000x more than it is. Yes it is deadly to those who are elderly and have pre-existing conditions. Just like the regular flu!
Yep people hold their hand over the ears and scream LALALALALA! I'll say it again, this will go as long as that extra 600.00 a week is in play, they dems know they can control the population this that, many Blue states will not list the shelter in place order while the "free" money is flowing.
I would say this virus is very deadly for people with multiple underlying medical conditions. I also have some concerns that Covid-19 was being developed as a bioweapon, therefore it makes sense to have shut down to give ourselves time to study it. We don't yet know if there will be long term effects of the virus. That said, we've reached the point where the cure will be worse than the illness, so we must get back to work.
Agreed. And I saw the guy who oversees the IHME wildly incorrect projections, and he was promoting his system as something fantastic because it adapts to the real numbers as they come along! Pure snake oil salesman. Of course the numbers are correct once you plug in the correct ones, but their initial projections were outrageous.
Either this thing is way more virulent (while being less deadly) than previously thought, or there is some sort of fuckery going on, like someone spreading it on purpose.
This isn't the same virus that was killing otherwise-healthy 30-year-olds with sustained 103F fevers in Wuhan. Something's different.
As for intentional spread, the Shincheonji cult is a good place to start looking. Branch in Wuhan, headquartered in Daegu, SK (the worst-hit city in that country), branches in the US West Coast, etc.
All places that are either crammed tightly together where the people rely on mass transit (NYC) or having a population that is decades older on average combined with a woefully inadequate health care system (Italy).
If I were a virus, I'd love living in Italy or on the islands of NYC. It's easy pickins' land.

Commie Cuomo said he needed 130k beds brb peaked at 19k two weeks ago

Because socialist medicine causes shortages. This is what AOC and Bernie want here.
It could be that the fear mongering drove people to those hospitals that would have otherwise never considered it.
Are you saying that all the media evidence from places like Bergamo are fake? Or are you implying that they're putting otherwise healthy people who would have never considered going to the hospital in ICUs on a whim?
Neither of those propositions make any sense.

I could go on and on.

It's concerning that as the data became more accurate we stuck by the plan developed using the initial, and wildly inaccurate, data.
