Regarding Alcohol (aka the most common disinfectant)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_inhalation#Medical_applications

"Inhalation of vapor obtained by nebulization of water and ethanol in oxygen has been used in treatment of pulmonary edema in humans.[10] Alcohol vapor acts as an anti-foaming agent in the lungs, so the sputum becomes more liquid, and can be easily expelled."

Pulmonary edema is a condition with overwhelming fluid in the lungs, which is one of the worst effects of COVID and in conjunction with inflammation is why folks need ventilators.
