Jesus Christ didn't ask us to go around showing everyone how pious we are. He kind of said the opposite.

I think a lot of atheists are better Christians than a lot of Christians. If Christians took the "I am the truth" part of Jesus' saying seriously, they wouldn't be shy of embracing truth in all of its forms.
