I've noticed that a bunch of tech billionaires are trying to save the world, by any means necessary: Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos want to get man onto other planets, fearing that earthlings will eventually blow up their homeworld. Pure speculation on my part, but if you couldn't get man onto other planets, another way to solve the problem would be to coerce people into NOT using fossil fuels.
