US ranchers raise the cattle, farmers grow the grain to feed them at the ranch and feedlot. The cattle and the grain are moved by truckers. Meat processors prepare them before they go right back to the truckers for national distribution.
Hard working men and women in warehouses drive fork lifts. Some of that product ends up at the loading docks destined for McDonald's where it will be further processed and then sent to restaurants in a truck.
It will be unloaded, stocked, cooked and served - and no one on the other side of the counter will thank the free market. And that, my friends, is the point.
