It's a relatively new design by Mossberg. I can't speak to new York, but Cali gun laws haven't banned them yet, so you stand a pretty good chance. Probably have to search your ass off on the internet right now to find anything stronger than a slingshot, but you could do way worse than a Mossberg.
Spend some time learning about magazine fed shotguns vs standard tube fed. There are some major differences that would be better to know getting into it rather than discover on your own.
The major one is feed jams and cost of the mags. Plastic shells deform and may have jamming problems. It’s not a deal breaker but again, if you know what you’re getting into these become “features” rather than bugs ;)

I ordered this through Buds Gun Shop which is now sold out. I am also waiting for the 20 round magazine to be delivered as well - should be spicy.
The gun is the Mossberg 590M. You may be able to find it elsewhere.
I read “Bud’s Gun Shop” in Hickok45’s voice. Did you load it with ammunition courtesy of Federal?

I exclusively buy federal because it's inexpensive.. I don't notice a difference. Maybe I'm not shooting my shotguns enough.
