I work for an aging couple who pride themselves on their political correctness. Spend all day watching CNN. They told me this will go on for 2-5 years until there is a vaccine. The woman writes down the daily death toll and this is all Trumps fault, because he called it a "hoax" REEeEee. It kills me because they think they are so benevolent, but it's okay for us little people to serve them and go to work for them so that they feel safe.
I really just want to tell everyone to fuck off.
Their brain is public property, their goal is safety in numbers, and any attempt to break ranks is seen as an existential threat to the herd, to the consensus, and hence to themselves. Given the gap between that and the classical "rational animal" paradigm, different subspecies seems like a very plausible hypothesis.
