If we take the line that we undershot the Imperial estimates because "muh lockdowns work", then we'd be forced to claim that locking people inside - together, after they've been exposed to the virus - had the magical power to reduce the death count by 97.777%.
I could possibly believe that if people were actually locked down, as in they were forbidden from leaving their homes. But with people still going out to stores? Hell no.
Either it should be a total lock down, everything is online / phone orders and the staff bring the products, drop them off you wait and then load them into your car. Or no lock down.
The fact "essential" business' were allowed to stay open, to me, means this has always been a bunch of BS.
Grocery stores are petri dishes, from the shear volume of traffic and the fact that people are touching things you are going to touch with your mouth. The couple of times a year I get sick with a cold, sinus infection, whatever... I bet I pick I up a high percentage of the time at Kroger or Publix. As long as the people of a community are still grocery shopping, you aren't really going to keep anything that well contained.
And it was never about running to the store for milk and bread, it was the usual run to BJs and Costco for the mammoth overstock to feed 5000. Just comparing that a real lockdown like in Spain (after the cat was out of the bag mind you) had people not even allowed to take a walk. Only essential trips and police could stop you, only one person in the car........ US never had that strict a lock down, so of course the virus kept spreading

My company has effectively trapped all of its employees in the state. If we so much as cross another state line and come back, we have a mandatory 14 day quarantine before we are allowed back on site. Mandatory temperature testing for anyone arriving on site. All the halls are marked with arrows dictating whether you can travel clockwise or counter-clockwise (so you don't pass anyone). You can be reported to your supervisor if you're observed not "socially distancing" at least 6ft away from others. The management has turned our workplace into a fucking gulag. They are basically just asking for a lawsuit, the way they are treating everyone like children and hysterically overreacting.
For anyone to return to the site, you also have to pass a 14-question quiz on the site rules regarding COVID-19 and score 100. It's like they don't want to make money and make all their employees disgruntled. One of my office mates already quit.
Wtf. I would quit too. Maybe they are trying to reduce headcount? Man I'd love to tell them to shove that quiz up their ass. It sounds like highschool again.
