Gee, I can't imagine how that would be taken advantage of, not during an emergency.

My grandpa, told me when I was a teen.… that everything in life comes down to a number and every number has a dollar sign in front of it. I didn’t understand till I got older.

Hospitals may get paid more but doctors don’t. Cardillo lumped docs in with hospitals when the article he linked only says hospitals. Sloppy, John.

Good catch.

Sloppy you, he quoted the article exactly as it's printed. Right under "Our ruling: True".

Nothing, except the last paragraph, says doctors get paid more. Hospitals get paid more, as the entirety of the article except for that stupid unsupported sentence at the end states. Nothing in the body of the article is given as support for the doctor – who bills separately from the hospital – being paid anymore for treating wuflu patients.

The article also Seitz Snopes as a source so you know the whole goddamn thing is fucking bullshit to begin with

There's heaps of evidence that the overuse of ventilators by Gov. Party Tits is behind the much higher death rate in NYC. Apparently a human life is worth just over thirty grand to these people.

Yes a doctor takes an oath just like an elected politician. Always, get three estimates from contractors, two from doctors and fuck the politicians.

The people who need long term psych care are the ones least likely to get it. The money cities and states spend on "homeless" efforts would be better spent treating most of these people. Lifetime prison or death sentences for selling meth, crack and heroin would reduce the amount of drugs that turn able bodied humans into schizophrenic zombies.

Is there a way to archive twitter links?

Every time a twitter link loads on my browser I feel like I have loaded a virus.

This is the way our current healthcare billing system works. It's not sinister. It's called a comorbidity. If the person has Covid19, it exacerbates other problems and complicates care. This should not come as a surprise and I'm sure that folks in the medical field (like me) are rolling their eyes at this kind of news.

Now, if docs are adding Covid19 to a patients problem list when there is no evidence of it, that's different. And trust me, the Joint Commission will rip new assholes if they catch healthcare orgs cheating on this. There must be sufficient evidence to include Covid19 for billing purposes.

Others in healthcare, please feel free to add.

Couple this with the fact that we know that the virus is extremely widespread. 1 in 5 New Yorkers have been infected. So it is very possible that a lot of people that died of cancer or heart disease coincidentally had asymptomatic COVID-19 at some point and then were listed as a 'COVID-19' death.

Yes in theory if a person dies and then is tested or believed to have covid 19. They died from it and gets listed as death.
