I had to choose my words carefully the other day when a friend, who can work remote, was criticizing people protesting to get the country opened up again. When I commented that not everyone is as fortunate as us and unemployment benefits aren't always sufficient, nor forever, their response was more or less, "That's a risk I'm willing to take."
I don't think enough people understand what being unemployed can do to a person, and we're at 26 million plus Americans currently. We know the risks now and can make informed decisions, unlike late January. This perpetual fear/hysteria is irrational. And I'm that person who has always had to wash their hands before eating.

...about other people struggling to survive while they are insulated from the same fallout....talk about tone deaf.
Sadly quite common.
