Hospital employee here, I cannot vouch for the amounts, but yes, we do get more compensation for a COVID death than a "traditional pneumonia" death.

We're dying right now since we can't perform outpatient procedures, so some (lots, let's be honest) of hospital admins are pressuring Dr's to list this... so we can survive the lockdown. We're in dire financial straights at my hospital. 2/3 of our Medical / Surgical wards are closed (no patients,) and our 20-patient ICU has... 2 patients. No COVID either.

No one here believes the numbers for our state, much less nationally.

I remember Trump saying it was part of the stimulus package. During a briefing. I thought the amount was $19,000 per patient, don't remember the part about the ventilator. Could have been in progress w/changes still in the works.

I thought at the time it might cause problems. Dems are being dems.

On the one hand inflating cases for extra cash and lock down time, on the other hand trying to extort the fed for bailouts, and will still whine about reduced revenues and raise state taxes on the very people they have kept out of work for months.
Gives me a stress headache every time I think of it.
