I've been saying this. The racial inequality is a huge issue with this. These liberal cities have pockets of extreme poverty that have shitty schools and shitty healthcare services. If we keep getting told Trump did a horrible job and deaths are on his hands, shouldn't we really turn this around on Diblasio and Cuomo. New York was woefully unprepared. Other states had to request some help which is fine. But Cuomo publicly pled on TV for beds and ventilators. They didn't isolate infected areas, it just ran rampant. New York is either making up fake numbers or they fucked up hard. They can't get let off the hook

They fucked up hard. Health commie commissioner hyping Chinese New Years, forcing patients into the worst possible place (nursing homes), intentionally not preparing.

De Blasio telling people to go see De Niro films. The list goes on and on.

Actually poor NYCers probably have some of the best medical care in the world. They have comprehensive health insurance (medicaid) and access to world class hospitals just by living here. Yes there are poorly run hospitals in some areas but with a little wherewithal and a medicaid card you will get excellent care. I live near a major teaching hospital and the majority of their patients are medicaid recipients. Even uninsured illegals will get care if they go through the ER.

The initial hotspots in nyc were all orthodox jewish areas, not asian neighborhoods. Politicians are terrified of offending them so when they continued to congregate by the thousands for funerals, nothing was done. Keep in mind they had also spread measles in recent years by refusing to vaccinate, again they were treated with kid gloves.

When all is said an done, curtailing subway and bus service, forcing first responders, medical and essential workers into cars packed like sardines, with homeless people pooping and puking nearby, is probably going to be seen as one of the harshest precursors to infection. They should have doubled transit service if not tripled, but the MTA (the majority of whom are overweight, so at risk for complications) was in panic mode because so many of their workers were getting sick..

We also have countless huge, sprawling senior facilities all over the city that, as the article points out, were ill prepared and basically left unassisted.

And without a doubt, there has been fudging of the numbers. We are surrounded by bad data and probably will never know the truth.

I get the NYC and blue state hate, but until after November tone it down. There are conservative enclaves even in nyc where local seats will be contested, and it's moderates and swing voters who decide elections.

NY is both making up fake numbers AND fucked up hard. And nobody has stopped the faggot. State boundaries should have been sealed (quarantined) long ago. It's perfectly legal. Cuomo immediately talked about Civil War? We should have given it to him. Who the fuck would fight on his side? New Yorkers didn't like the idea of sealing State borders, but that is one BIG State, especially when you include NJ and CT. Nothing wrong with being kept within those boundaries for a couple months rather than spreading it all over the Country like they did. It's impossible to isolate the NYC metro area, so NJ and CT would have to be included. RI should've closed their western border at CT. Philadelphia still would have been a problem letting it spread into PA, but that could have been reduced.

And Cuomo is the beginning of denying sick people medicine. Almost everywhere is repeating that mistake. It's criminal.
