Wife filed for FL unemployment 3rd week of March. Weeks worth of trying on a badly-fucked website. Finally got it completed, no access to website since, or notice from the state, but her check showed up from FL last week and the CARE Act $600 kicker showed up as dd to her bank. That's opposite of what the state said to expect. State website still down as of now btw. I see it as a badly overloaded system here, and chaotic.
Definitely an issue with some states and not others. Amazing how shitty they let their computer systems get. Computers are damn near obsolete within a few years. I bet they're using shit they bought in 2000.
MN must not have had issues. Wife got laid off, filed, immediately approved and DD'd her unemployment+$600/week. She's making the same to not work as she was working, about $4k/mo. That $600/week is... excessive...they could've done $300/week and even that would've been quite a bit...
Depending on your state's unemployment rules, quite a bit of people are making more on unemployment than working. Minimum wage folks are probably making twice what they were or more. It's $2400/mo just from the federal government!

Her company is a bit dumb imo, they laid 90 people off but paid their healthcare through end of May or June. Usually that's a furlough...but they didn't tell anyone to expect to come back. She's kept in contact with her supervisor and they said they're swamped, morale is shit, and profits are down one week, up another.

So one of my buddies had recently switched jobs and didn't give a 2 week notice to the previous employer. He has been laid off for a month because of all this bullshit and according to the state he is being denied any unemployment benefits. He's appealing but they are following existing unemployment rules which allow benefits to be blocked if you didn't give notice to previous employer.
He went to a job interview recently for a shit wage of $15/hr. There were at least 100 other interviewees. So he's just screwed.

In my state employers can fire you immediately if you resign with notice, and there is a two week “cool off” period before you can collect unemployment.
I give always given notice, but if I thought I was going to be walked out the same day with no pay, I’d give no notice.
I don't know the exact circumstances of why my dude left without notice but I think it was a mixture of shitty boss and new job wanting him to start asap.
It has been over a month since I filed for Unemployment insurance in CA, and I still yet to receive the debit required to access any funds. Too bad they don't respond to email messages, even though its been like 3 weeks, and they do not answer any phone calls, with working hours from M-F 8am to 12pm
