Why is it closing? Can’t hire people with no symptoms, wear masks, gloves, etc. food is not essential?

It’s a ploy to get us to rely on government programs like WIC. We can live off peanut butter, cheese and bread.

And, meat plants bad for environment.

Control+fear = absolute power

It's not food that's the problem, it's the supply chain. With restaurants closed, there's too much food in the supply chain. Similar to oil, there is no storage for this excess and food is perishable. The solution is to stop processing food. What happens when everything opens is going to be the issue with food labor.

People haven’t stopped eating because restaurants close.

No they haven't, but they're not eating the same. There's a big difference between going out for a meal and opening a box of hamburger helper. I know I've cut down a lot on meat, seafood and indulgence. We've always been a mostly make food at home family. But I go out to lunch 3-4 times a week, wife and I eat out alone once a week and we take the kid out for dinner once a week. All those meals have been replaced by cheaper, less healthy food, because I'm sick of cooking. Yeah, I can still order out from favorite restaurants, we did the first week and promptly quit, the food sucks after a car ride.

The article says its due to outbreaks at facilities and worker shortage. It doesn't have to do with them not being able to ship it out, because most restaurants have contracts making them required to take the food. Farmers are having to get rid of food because they can't send it to the processing plant. So supply is fine, demand is fine, just the food plants don't want to hire more people.

Fake news. They close for a day, clean, then reopen.

But muh $1 McChicken. If Tyson hires Americans it’s gonna cost me $1.25 to stuff my fat ass with fried drive-thru poultry. This aggression will not stand!

Never understood the left bitching for a $15 minimum wage when we already basically have it in my area. I live outside of SF and I see signs at the local Wendy’s and McDonald's with hiring signs for $16-$18 an hour starting, $3 higher than min wage simply because that’s what they need to pay to attract workers. And surprise surprise, the $1 menu still exists somehow.

They bitch and whine and demand $15 per hour "living wages" in one breath, and then in the next they bitch and whine and demand that millions of illegal aliens be allowed to stay and work those same jobs for $5 per hour under the table, and complain that strawberries might go up by $0.25/pound if illegals aren't allowed to undercut American labor.

The left hold so many hypocritical and contradictory opinions, it's a wonder they can keep them straight.

They say they want to model our economy and social services after Nordic countries, but refuse to model out immigration policy after Nordic countries.

We can have strong social services or we can have weak borders, but we absolutely cannot have both. That would be like you opening a buffet that served food for free to the needy but let anyone show up to eat.

Amazing how supply and demand work - there’s no need for artificial wages set by people who don’t have to worry about the actual payroll.

$2.50 if we put an end to factory farming. Where our chickens come from is not cool.

This is pretty much why there are all of these big outbreaks in Meat Packing plants, but not in grocery stores. It's because most of their employees are illegals packed into cramped living quarters.

I’m in farm country in CA, they are leaving en masse. Beyond that, because of trumps restrictions the cost for the coyotes to bring you back is 15000 US dollars when before trump it was around $5000

We’re having “outbreaks” of COVID- 1984 in at least three packing plants now; the number of cases related to those plants are more than the number of cases in our two most populated cities combined (no meat packing plants in those cities). Now employees are protesting “unsafe working conditions”

A lot of companies that were included in original stay at home orders have no become exempt and allowed to employ their staff but those staff are now making as much or more (with added 600$ benefit) than they were making while employed and choosing to remain unemployed because of it. Met a guy yesterday who owns a few restaurants and is having this issue currently he cant get anyone to come in and work because they make more money doing nothing.

I have an idea. Remember how parents used to have parties so their children could all get the chickenpox? Let’s do testing. Everyone in the plant with the antibodies can keep working. Anyone without is put in a room with someone infected and they stay there until they are all infected. Then once they recover or do not have any symptoms we send them back to work. No more worries about people getting infected with the flu that only kills people in cities run by Democrats.

christianknight 3 points ago +6 / -3

Those chickenpox parties were an awful thing. Later on it was found chicken pox was caused by the Varicella-zoster virus which is related to herpes. Hence the sore breakouts later on known as Shingles.

Which is rare so again, meh

Harambe 1 point ago +1 / -0

sounds like you are blaming chicken pox parties for shingles. False equivalence.

It does go dormant. Thats what herpes does. But it never leaves the body. The medical community says not to worry about it but there are alot of factors that we dont understand about viral infections that reside inside the nerves for life.

InjectorEater 0 points ago +1 / -1

It is herpes, same family as mono, simplex 1&2, and a couple of other ones. Shingles is a bitch too and I'mm really glad my kid will hopefully never have to experience it.

I’ve heard farmers are plowing under crops, milk is being spread on fields, and chickens being euthanized to rot
