I'm here deep in the People's Republic of California, and it's so heartening to see a SoCal community coming together to honor our veterans, get out the flags, and salute those that secured our freedom.
The deliveries have included a letter and a photo from Trump citing the “tremendous milestone” and his “dedicated service to our country during World War II,” along with a framed flag delivered by about a dozen members of the Army National Guard.
well, this is Lakewood, which is a small, independent and very traditionally American city on the edge of LA county - we are one of the only cities in the area that allows fireworks on the fourth of July, and it's glorious. a lot of vets, a lot of flags... there's a guy who drives an old WWII era army jeep with the the machine gun still mounted on the back and a giant American flag. Lakewood is comfy.
There is a rotten core with our leadership, the media, and Hollywood, but the people of LA County, the cityscape and economy here are actually pretty great.
sorry friend but many "democrats" did show up; I know several personally. a lot of old school democrats around still in the JFK mold who are not possessed by identity politics, a lot of longshoremen live in and around Lakewood who identify as dems due to traditional union affiliations. an increasing number of these democrats will be voting for Trump this election =)
Folks here are having parades for bday parties. Saw it first time yesterday in my neighborhood thats close to a college.
Seems a nice way to celebrate apart and it was a treat to see.
Patriotism in the USA is at an all time high right now and it's truly a sight to behold. Lately it hasn't taken much for me to tear up at neighbors helping neighbors and amazing gestures such as this parade. Our local police and fire rescue forces have been teaming up to do small parades for local children's birthday parties and gigantic multijurisdictional parades around local hospitals to honor our hard working doctors and nurses. It's incredible. Even in uncharted times, we can see the American spirit shine at its absolute best. This is not something that any other country has, and it's what makes the USA so great.

It's not THAT bad in parts of Orange County... but yeah, Commiformia is very hard to live in.

KEK bless you my Pede.
Glider Infantry, in Normandy, on D Day. What a fucking legend.
This challenges my perception that only shitty things come out of la county...and I'm ok with that.
Such a good story! Happy Birthday LT!

The rest of LA county has fireworks on the 4th in an equally American way: in open defiance of unjust laws.
haha you right about that - "bombs bursting in air" throughout the southland in the week or two leading up to the 4th...

I'M NOT CRYING MY CONTACTS ARE BOTHERING ME
I have 20/20 vision. What excuse should I use?
No need to after watching that. I’m looking for a manly excuse.
Allergies, if you have those.
Otherwise dust. Dust blew in your eyes.

The guy landed at Normandy in a fucking GLIDER! It doesn't get more badass than that.
This, this is the America I know and love.
