None of this is medical advice, but.... When someone is sundowning from certain forms of dementia they need to be watched closely by either a medical profession or a loved one to make sure that they don't wander off and/or hurt themselves.
Some part of the sundowner usually still remembers the loved one fondly and will tend to be comforted by their presence and will tend to respond favorably to their suggestions to stay close.

Thing is: I'd put forth he's no longer competent to stand trial, or at least, receive any sort of meaningful punishment.
Yes, he has a documented history of groping women and children, his drug addict son got that sweetheart deal by with the Russian company Burisma, but you can't put someone in his condition on trial other than as a fact finding expedition.
I think that fact finding expedition should go forward to make sure that these crimes are documented for the record, but is it right to jail a body when the mind is either going or already gone?

Eh, I've seen a couple of people suffer through various forms of dementia, rest their souls. It doesn't sit right with me to pick on someone's debilitating disease. Exceptions can be made for the Tide Pod eaters and those retarded spring breakers a few weeks ago, because they did it to themselves, but I've seen the heartache it causes, and it's not a joking matter.
Besides, there's plenty of videos of him groping little girls from C-SPAN, et al., as well as the Tara Reade stuff, the other women who will probably come out before November, and weren't there some female Secret Service agents who asked to be pulled off his detail because he kept having them come in while he was skinny dipping?
