imagine entrusting china, renowned for lack of safety, cutting corners and apathy towards all protocol, with the most dangerous viral research in the world. The US state dept even reported this particular lab TWICE for safety concerns. The Chinese woman in charge of the research was kicked out of a western research team for doing 'pointlessly dangerous research' that wasn't going to help humanity.
Then the cherry on top is that the origin of the outbreak is a couple miles away from the lab in question.
Imagine wanting to continue funding that without question, because 'all research is good' no matter how stupidly dangerous and risky.
