Which will kill the site honestly. As it becomes more clear that it is a farrrr left echo chamber more regular people will leave. And as more moderates leave you will see it move even further left and it will become just another socialist spewing news site. The only reason it has a seemingly large influence is because any moderates that go to /r/politics, /r/news, /r/worldnews etc. they are given a large number of the same ideals that seem to be popular so they figure that maybe this is the normal train of thought. As more people notice the echo chamber it loses any significance it once had because all of the people yelling there can be dismissed as members of that echo chamber as opposed to normal people commenting.

It is basically the same way that they painted /the_donald as a crazy right wing community. People just assumed that we were and never ventured into our subreddit. Same concept really. As stupid as their ideals are they are very good at leading the narrative.

Exactly I have used reddit for years and it has changed significantly. Normal people will continue to leave and push the average user more and more left. Soon only socialists and Europeans will be jerking eachother off to how they still can't understand why Trump and nationalism is rising when everyone they talk to is far left wing.

When I first started going there it was extremely Libertarian and Ron Paul support was at the level Bernie support is at now. What a shithole it has become

2012 to 2015 Reddit was awesome. 2016 on it slowly eroded away into the crap it is now since around late 2018.

Yep, right around the time my wife started using it is when it fell off.

I still like some tech specific subs but even they go political at times for no reason.

Also the interface is terrible. It is basically unusable except in the old mode.

Reddit is a great platform - if you want to be woefully misinformed on a wide variety of topics such was world politics, movies, sports, science, etc.

Jokes that were once upvoted were then looked at as "problematic."

Several years ago in Reddit when someone reposted something and claimed it as OC, everyone would call OP a faggot in the comments and it would get upvoted. Nowadays you would probably get banned for saying that.

It's always funny to me when people claim that I'm a far-right extremist.

Political compass test says I'm basically dead center. It doesn't get a whole lot more centrist than my views.

I'm only a "far-right extremist" because the Overton Window has moved so far left that anyone to the right of Lenin is a right-winger.

Which can be a positive (for our cause at least). One of the reasons that we see more moderates shifting right is because where else can they go? If the media was even a 80% fake news as opposed to 95% we would see a huge portion of the population wonder how they could support such terrible ideals. It is ridiculous how much the left is protected from explaining their decisions and their shitty views.

Now I am not saying that Republicans do not have their bad eggs (there are many), but our movement is trying to remove those. But Democrats seems to be committed to bringing in even more radical ideologies.

We're all human. Nobody's perfect.

I'll say that given the choice between your average Republican or your average Democrat, I'll take the Republican every time. The vast majority of all politicians are absolute scum, but I find the decent-to-scum ratio is higher in a population of Republicans than in Democrats.

Same here. Not sure how much the political compass test shows, but I'm actually slightly left of center on it. Of course I'm called a Nazi or alt right in real life

Or the "regular people" will just be converted. Censorship works and we need to stop pretending like it doesn't

There’s more to reddit than just politics but even that is being squeezed out.

I used to go to reddit for sports and hobby subs but now I end up going elsewhere to get the information.

I still use reddit but my time there has been cutdown drastically.

I agree and I love the smaller communities. But even the sports communities get extremely toxic whenever politics do come about. Luckily they have not infected my favorite small subs but I hardly go there anymore out of spite.
