The real issue, as Flynn has talked about publicly since he left the DIA in 2014, is the evidence of a U.S. role under Barack Obama and his CIA director John Brennan in facilitating an increase of radical Islam in the Middle East. He has cited the evidence contained in a DIA document, declassified and publicly released by Judicial Watch.
And while speculation was rife that just like the CIA-funded al-Qaeda had been used as a facade by the US to achieve its own geopolitical and national interests over the past two decades, so ISIS was nothing more than al-Qaeda 2.0, there was no actual evidence of just this.
That all changed when a declassified secret US government document obtained by the public interest law firm, Judicial Watch, showed that Western governments deliberately allied with al-Qaeda and other Islamist extremist groups to topple Syrian dictator Bashir al-Assad.
According to investigative reporter Nafeez Ahmed in Medium, the “leaked document reveals that in coordination with the Gulf states and Turkey, the West intentionally sponsored violent Islamist groups to destabilize Assad, despite anticipating that doing so could (and did) lead to the emergence of an ‘Islamic State’ in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
In short, Flynn knew the Obama administration was supporting ISIS. He called them out for it, and they took revenge by initiating this case against him.
Great article. I had not heard that government was holding prosecution over the original Flynn legal team (the lawyers themselves were being threatened) in order to coerce them to push a guilty plea. That is amazing misconduct on the part of the government AND the original legal team.
This is what is being reported, that the original attorneys who advised Flynn on the FARA issue were threatened by the government over a misfiling on their part, and pressured to push Flynn to admitting guilt in order to avoid their own prosecution.
Meanwhile Flynn was pressured by team Mueller to plead guilty or they would prosecute his son as well - a secret side deal that the government made but did not tell the court about. That is illegal.
That's multiple counts of sedition. Illegally prosecuting a senior government official in order to influence our foreign policy. And illegally threatening to prosecute his attorneys in order to ensure the original sedition didn't get exposed.
If it comes out that they did this on behalf of a foreign government or other enemies of the United States, it rises to the level of treason.
What would you do if your decades and decades of kiddie fucking and money laundering secrets were about to be exposed? You would commit TREASON to cover it up! It's ALWAYS the cover up that gets ya!

Sidney is Andrew Weissmann's mortal enemy. It's an excellent book. Also incredibly infuriating (disclaimer for pedes with high blood pressure).
