The only possible counterpoint I could see is that scrubbing/deleting in and of itself is a possible trace of wrongdoing.

It would be strategically superior to know the people in charge and all media will protect you forever no matter what.

I'd imagine much of the time it's an unnecessary risk for the uniparty to scrub something.

Or if you control the institutions before a need to scrub/delete, then you don't think about the need to scrub/delete. Hildog had a minion asking reddit how to delete emails from a server, but that ultimately didn't matter because the institutions that would prosecute didn't and won't.
