This was in 2015 during the Obama travesty, so not too surprising the "U.S. Committee on Foreign Investment" would approve it. The question now is how do we get it back?

I’d be all for this. Let them buy whatever. Then tax the hell out of it so it wouldn’t be work it. Any protections would be welcome.

Wow you managed to identify a good use for the EPA 😂

Be a shame if this place started getting scrutinized and fined mercilessly

Or wait until the transfer is complete and then nationalize it. This way, the Americans get paid and then we confiscate it from China.

I wonder when the Chinese bought Smithfield, the pork packing company. Seems like keeping things like our food supply in American hands would make sense from a security perspective. It was bad enough when we lost our beer to the Belgians and the South Africans, but losing our meat to an economic competitor/trade war enemy? Untenable.

Anther candidate for nationalization.

We just tell China to go fuck themselves.

Just take it. I had property on a road that the state wanted to widen and they took it. Why can't we do the same to communists?

TAKE THIS DOWN - Delete it and add "THANK YOU, OBAMA" to the title and re-post it.

Note given the time frame HillDawg signed off on this one as well.

"The purchase, which includes oil fields in the state's Howard and Borden counties, has already been approved by the U.S. Committee on Foreign Investment, the filing said."

Seriously WTF!

I know 1 Chinese real estate investor in Florida.

They are here to steal this country with fake banker billions.

If you're wise you won't let this go through.

Real Estate is a swamp industry infiltrated with commie sponsored bankers.

Hm. Yantai Xinchao, the buyers, later changed their name to Shandong Xinchao Energy Corp Ltd. They are, according to Reuters, ".. a China-based company, principally engaged in the property development and sales businesses. The Company is also engaged in the production and sales of electronic components, and exploration and production of petroleum. Its main products include data cables, coaxial cables and petroleum." Big bucks. Also found another company of the same name that manufactures stainless steel kitchenware, possibly under the same umbrella. Just general info in case it's of use to anyone.

Y'all younger pedes may not remember, but once upon a time, Japan was buying up huge chunks of properties in the US.

People were expressing the same, reasonable, worries about it.

They lost their ass eventually, and properties were sold at firesale prices.

https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1992-02-21-mn-2588-story.html

Like I told people back then, they can buy property, but they cannot take it back to Japan.

And here - China bought when oil was very high. (Article is from 2015 - why the fuck is it even up here like it's news?) Oil is not high anymore, and they're probably losing their ass.

Well I see that was from 2015 so it's a little late.

I wonder though, can we do like a foreign ownership property tax? Like the opposite of things like homestead exemptions--a multiplier for real estate owned by non-citizens. The only thing is I'm sure they'd find loopholes like how literally every big contractor is a woman-owned business now.

All Chinese-owned assets in this country should be seized and auctioned off to U.S. citizens only. All Chinese nationals should be deported, unless they are legitimate refugees from the CCP.
