There are three possibilities, and I hope someone will be able to answer this question. One is that azithromycin and HCQ taken together reach higher blood levels together than individually. Two is that azithromycin exerts its own antiviral effect, which is known in lab tests. Three is azithromycin clears another secondary infection, like mycoplasma. Just my guesses.
