I live in this county and the local cops are pretty good people. County sheriffs though and state cops are the kinda cops who will pull you over for doing 5mph over the speed limit and issue every citation imaginable
The whole Good Cop / Bad Cop question can be disposed of much more decisively. We need not enumerate what proportion of cops appears to be good or listen to someone's anecdote about his uncle Charlie, an allegedly good cop.
We need only consider the following:
A cop's job is to enforce the laws, all of them;
Many of the laws are manifestly unjust, and some are even cruel and wicked;
Therefore every cop has to agree to act as an enforcer for laws that are manifestly unjust or even cruel and wicked.
And you know, a ton of attorneys are now questioning and filing lawsuits against Governors because these extended shutdowns may not even be legal. I believe it was Illinois where an attorney won his case, because the Governor is not allowed to extend a shutdown past 30 days or something.
Line up attorneys! There is tons of money to make in class action lawsuits right now.
Can you imagine these cops going to this woman’s house and thinking their behavior is okay and justified? It’s a mom letting her kid play at a friend’s house.
Maybe put this energy in going after pedophiles, drug dealers, burglars, rapists...real tough going after a mom for (gasp) letting her kid play at a friends. Pathetic.
That's why rural areas are better in every way. Heck, here even the state police are fishing buddies. My friend is a retiered DOT cop. Before he retired a few friends would have lunch once a week. He would pick us all up in his cruiser. It was always funny because he would forget to let the folks in the back seat out. Also, the back seat had those special cop car seats for people in handcuffs. Anyhow, around here everyone knows everyone.
Yeah. It's like managers. Lots of great people, but a job that gives you authority over people is going to attract some percentage of people that are just power hungry assholes.

There are no good cops. - Robert Higgs
And these are not even laws. They were there because the executive of the state told them too. It is fucking bullshit.

That includes the Constitution.
Seems like these days "this concludes the constitution"

Different departments, chain of command, etc. It shouldn’t be a shock though, these guys are the same ones who put Steve Avery away (Netflix special).
