Every time you find yourself supporting any government action, think of this video. Every last tax, fee, law, ordinance or decree by the government, is backed up at the point of a gun. Think of the US government as having a monopoly on violence. That's what a government is, an entity that has a monopoly on the utilization of violence.

Those officers were threatening. That's really the only power an officer has, the power to do violence. You call a police officer because they can legally enforce the law. The way a law is enforced is through the threat of violence, an arrest is a violent act. Because if you resist it, they will force it, resist hard enough and you can be legally shot.
