Hi pedes, here's my story that may or may not have been the WuFlu, and was likely a regular flu but here it is anyways. I think I caught something on the flight back from Florida after the Daytona 500 the following Wednesday - so this was back at the end of Feb. By Saturday I was feeling a lot more tired than usual and not all that hungry.

But back to the flight home - there was a kid directly across the aisle maybe about 10-12 years old coughing repeatedly for most of the flight. There was no direct parent or sibling nearby that seemed to care about suppressing the kid's coughs by having him use his elbow or a shirt or something. Nope, the little fucker just coughed the entire time probably getting many others ill well beyond just me. After 30-45 minutes, which was probably far too late in hindsight, I ended up taking a shirt out of my suitcase and wrapping it around my face.

Sure enough, 3 days later, I've got something. I'm feeling weak, but not weak enough to get into the car to get to CVS/local pharmacy/drugstore if I needed to. I had been treated for asthma/allergies with regular shots a few years ago, and stopped and have not been back for about 3-4 years now. I'm thinking that asthma symptoms may continue to resurface if I'm not using a preventative inhaler regularly.

Although I didn't see a doctor for any of this, my previous doctor who had supplied the asthma inhaler from before was still kicking around so I'm glad I had it. I had not been using the inhaler regularly, no symptoms, so I didn't want to waste the charges. It's entirely possible that my airways were a bit constricted due to not keeping up with that, or, it could have been flu, maybe. Anyway, I was groggy and sick without much of an appetite. Sleep was difficult for the worst night, maybe Saturday/Monday, had a few hot/cold sessions during one of the nights. That was a little difficult but I wasn't worried. Barely hungry for a few days, very tired and ready to sleep at 8PM with a movie on for 3 nights.

During the nights I felt my airways somewhat constricted, so I did have to use the rescue inhaler a couple times (1-2 puffs puts me back to normal). Strength was returning by Tuesday and by Wednesday I was well enough to return to the office, although I thankfully been permitted to work from home until my illness passed. Thursday morning I felt fine again and went into the office for the first time after this - and all has been well ever since.

So, this could have been a bout of the flu, which I recovered from in a relatively short time frame. Got it Wednesday, started feeling ill Friday, felt worst Saturday and into Sunday, improved each day after and was well enough by Wednesday although I stayed home one extra day out of precaution.

At the time I didn't think this was the WuFlu/Chinese virus, just another temporary bug, since it didn't last long but did give me some respiratory difficulties although I had my remedy in my inhaler.

Also, I stayed home when I was sick, went through several cans of chicken noodle soup and lots OJ + water.

Not sure if any of this info helps anyone but I wanted to put it out there none the less. Thanks for reading. MAGA & KAG!

A friend thought the same thing about a recent January illness. He just got an antibody test in Denver and is awaiting results.

Glad you’re better, are you under 50? and I can imagine seeing Trump at the Daytona 500 had to have been an amazing experience. I was probably drunk so I dont remember, but didn’t it get rained out and pushed to the next day?

Thanks yes, I'm better. Yes, a few ticks under 40. The first 20 laps were on day 1, day 2 had the remaining 180. Went both days!

I was very sick March 14-20 with many of the symptoms. I got an antibody test and it was negative, meaning I wasn't exposed and didn't have it.

Meaning is it is LIKELY you were not exposed and didn't have it...

Right.

This is interesting. I haven't seen anybody report on a correlation between asthma and COVID-19 illness, or asthma inhalers and COVID-19 resistance. The effects of the asthma inhaler and the effects of HCQ are very similar in chemistry++...

++ I'm an engineer and not in biomedicine, so this is just my non-professional opinion...

For the asthma symptoms to come into it right when I was sick was maybe a coincidence, or maybe it caused it. This period of illness made me err on the side of caution from there on out by regularly using the preventative inhaler so it didn't happen again (i.e., oh fuck I really do need to continue taking the asthma inhaler regularly to keep it at bay, etc).
