It isn't a superiority trip anyways, it's trying to better oneself. Also, that you're able to read condescension between the lines of a one-word reply is puzzling.
I have many people correct my words and spelling on this site.
They most often say some thing like: "You might have meant 'this', but it is 'that'." Or "Did you mean this word or that because they are different spellings (i.e., there vs. thier).
You just throw out a one word response to give yourself intellectual points. (Refute that claim all you want and then go back to your response)
Whether you realized it or not (either too shallow or not comprehending the point), you just inserted your little spelling/english jab.
So, I guess your post achieved it's desired affect. Someone you do not know has taken two posts to try to illuminate a point to you (someone; I might add, could possible have a lot in common with me, if we were just talking like people, without pretenses).
