I don't fault Trump for his decisions or for sending this tweet, in a way it paints his detractors into a corner as well because now they'll have to agree with him or petition to open back up.

However, look at those numbers -- Denmark and Norway have the same population. They took similar steps. So why is Denmark 2x the fatalities? There is something other than lockdowns making these numbers.

Does anyone know what countries are heavily using hydroxychloroquine to treat people? Because if you can treat people, then no matter how bad it got you won't have a huge death toll on your hands.

I live in Norway, and most of us live on the countryside and you have to take ferrys and shit to get around here. The town i live in has 10k people and only 2 confirmed cases.

Still not convinced though lockdown was ever necessary or at least not for more than 2 weeks tops

If Trump supports staying at home, so do I. He knows more about the situation than anyone here.

Note that nobody ever said lockdowns will stop the spread or take the curve to zero. They said it will slow the spread, and flatten the curve.

Meaning, everyone who is going to get it, is still going to get it, but it'll just spread at a slower rate.

My hunch is that Sweden will just be biting the bullet up front, taking a big hit, then tapering off.

Whereas countries that locked down, will see a trickle of deaths for months, maybe even a year.

Neither will be more or less, instead it's a question of faster or slower spread.

I hope this tweet doesn’t backfire when we find out the extended lockdown wasn’t necessary or perhaps even detrimental in terms of a “2nd wave.” A short spike really isn’t bad if the healthcare system isn’t overwhelmed; it definitely is better economically.

It's also possible that locked down countries will experience a sudden surge of what will appear to be a second wave, and then their deaths will be right in line with everyone else.

This is the beauty of America: I don't agree with this

I have pretty much agreed with everything Trump has done in regards to the virus.

The justifications given for these unlawful lockdowns is always given in absolute numbers. Twice the deaths, 1000 more deaths, total deaths, with no analysis given beyond a made to be shocking number. Sweden's death total is .0002 of its population, Norway and Denmark .00004 and .00007 of their population's respectively (all rounded). We are not given population demographics, other disease rates, mortality circumstances, overall mortality rates in the demostrated countries. I am not an epidemiologist so I can't make a scientific judgement as to whether these are medically statistically significant numbers. I can however notice a lack of comparison to how many people die because of reduced standard medical care and other traumas caused by lockdown. I can notice we have politicians who have painted themselves into a corner and now have to double down on their questionable lockdown narrative. I fear President Trump has been painted into a corner and has to echo the opinions of his overreaching advisors. Our state and federal beuracrats, both elected and non elected, started a process with no plan on how to get out of it and mitigate it's damage. Some did this knowingly, some in a panic. It concerns me that President Trump is echoing the narrative. I hope he has a plan. He has on all else prior. I just want real scientific dialogue to arrive at a conclusion, not alternative voices silenced by unelected ideologues to arrive at a predetermined conclusion.

GEOTUS, like Barr, hitched his reputation to a loser (Rosenstein for Barr, Fauci for Trump). He is both too proud, politically invested, and a germaphobe, to ever back off. It's up to us.
