It's all show. Anyone who has taken a class in wearing MOPP gear knows that a fucking cloth mask does nothing to protect you. If the virus is in mist form you will be covered in it from head to toe. If it's in an air form it will go right through your t-shirt mask. It's all done to instill fear in people.

Most spread outside hospital setting is likely via large respiratory droplets, not aerosolized particles. The mask mainly stops you from spreading droplets, if you are infected.

Exactly. So if you don't have it. You don't need to wear a mask. Having everyone wear a mask is ridiculous and only spreads misinformation and fear.

Exactly.

Agreed.

So if you don't have it. You don't need to wear a mask.

Eh, as I understand it, the "wear a mask in public locations" policy is aimed more at the unknown, asymptomatic carriers.

Whether that's because you're recently infected, incubating, transmissible, but not yet suffering symptoms, or truly fighting through it, but having no symptoms (yet still transmissible). If a person is unknowingly n-COVID-19 positive, any mask will help catch respiratory spray, reducing spread, reducing probability of transmission. If they're not, it's pointless.

Those with the "weight on the chest", fever, etc, should really be isolating and resting while their immune system fights it off, unless they're going to a clinic or hospital, for testing (confirmation of infection) or treatment. In those cases, the mask is absolutely warranted, to "catch" direct respiratory spray, and reduce the infection risk to others.
