I cant believe that so called intellectuals with college education still fall for the santa clause fantasy of communism.

I cant believe that after spending decades decrying the chaos in Africa as "whites moving boarders and forcing people with no cultural or language connections to live together causing all the poverty" and then turning around and doing that here.

I'm amazed at the level of mental failure it must take to hate yourself, your history, surrender your future, and feel moral doing it

realJohnBarron 9 points ago +9 / -0

Ackchyually, true communism has never been tried...

11
Formerlurker92 11 points ago +11 / -0

I've met people that said that. And to those people I have one thing to say:

if you are the type of person that can say 'this has killed 100 million, but' you are a bad person and a sociopath full stop. You can't shit on 100 million corpses and claim the moral high ground

A solid retort!

I can see the neckbeard jowls wobble everytime someone spells "ackakshually" like that, shaking 3 day old cheetoh dust out of the jowl folds

Full blown communism has never happened because human nature will never allow it to happen. Besides the fact that an industrial and service based economy requires monetary incentive to entice innovation and progress... the process to get there always winds up with people who get into power and use such power to suppress the masses while they enjoy the privileges that go along with that power; of which they'll never willingly give up. Trying Communism always turns into a dictatorship where the people are made poor and the elite are made richer. There's no middle class, only rich and very poor.

Just reply back that if they won't let it be tried by now then they won't let it be tried for the foreseeable future either.

I get why academics like it. It’s the business model in most universities. He who whines and plays the victim gets more money. Whether it’s faculty, departments, or students looking to get in or get scholarships, that’s how you get paid more there.

“Our University lacks a Chicano Studies program, and general history courses related to it are not taken seriously or popular. It’s time we got the funding we deserve. Science departments get millions. We don’t get anything.”

That’s literally the sort of argument they would make. Not that it’s going to benefit anybody or the world, particularly not students. They just whine.

Then college ratings boards make it worse. They rank schools in part on a revolving door of trendy topics, one of them now being diversity. So there’s incentive for it to keep your ranking.

Meanwhile, all non rich students majoring in it graduate with insurmountable debt and barista jobs.

A complete top to bottom overhaul of education is needed to save the children of this country

4
ThrupleBlindStudy 4 points ago +4 / -0

People need to stop going to universities, that’s the only thing that will work.

It’s already starting to happen. It’s hard to justify the costs nowadays for liberal arts degrees even with the mental gymnastics of normies.

There are plenty of ways to get higher paying jobs through certification programs that take a fraction of the time and cost a fraction of the price.

And, surprise, surprise, the people who follow the pragmatic path are more conservative and emotionally stable.

I love education and learning, but a big problem with educational institutions is that many aspects of them are no longer needed. Universities at the highest level can be great research hubs for higher level topics, as can undergraduate degrees in real things. Most of the work of public education has been made obsolete though.

‘Lecture’ style content can be freely made available to anyone. Assignments and things of that nature in many areas can too. Or pay for higher quality content. Look at The Great Courses and The Teaching Company. People pay for it. It’s a great business. Their latest stuff reads like listicles but their classic stuff’s great. We can still have ways of assessing people that can’t be faked. Test their ability to perform. But leave everything else to the free market.

Aside from the baby sitting K12 provides, most of it is useless and can be condensed into a few years. The entire K12 experience has always been a big joke in most areas at public schools. Things like math and writing are valuable and people would easily seek out learning that on their own. If someone’s interested in history, they’d also seek that out. The greats works of the western canon. Everything really. You don’t need to go through K12 for 14-18 years of your life to read any of the books there. Half the shit they have people read now is bullshit too.

In the Bay Area here, they pass out books for K12 teachers to read during the summer to discuss with their students. One was ‘Waking up White’. A new popular one is ‘Antiracism’, the point of the latter being that it’s not enough not to be racist, but you have to actively attack anything that might even be kinda maybe racist seeming maybe in some kinda way sorta. You already know from the title that they have nothing to offer anyone. No positive contribution to anyone will be made from reading them or buying them. Nothing productive comes from it. And that’s like 80% of public school now.

Save public education. Mandatory military service for 1-2 years when you come of age for both genders with high physical standards. Return the great works of the western canon to the curriculum. And watch a good portion of problems in America fade away like mascara on a young boy that didn’t belong there.

I went to college and slept my way to a 3.9 GPA. I learned nothing of value in any of the classes I took. All of the personal growth that occurred during that period was with freinds who enjoyed history and we all recommend books to each other.

The social connections ended up being more valuable than the courses and I wish I knew a way to make that a part of the education system rather than the listen and regurgitate we have now.

2
ClownTamer 2 points ago +2 / -0

Part of the reason you found good connections is because of the bar set for who was allowed into the ‘club’ aspect of college. That’s the larger reason people used to do well after going. They met up with like minded people that were already far more likely to succeed. Now and for a long time, to let in more ‘diversity’, they force feed people into colleges that simply can’t perform. At least not in real majors. Then the market for fake majors came to be because if you failed a minority that was let in because they were a minority, it made you as a professor look bad and the University look bad, and your funding was in jeopardy, as well as your social standing. They needed somewhere for them to go and something for them to do, which lead to the rise of studies majors, as well as the expansion of soft fields like psychology into utter nonsense. We even have courses on eroticism and fetishes at UCs out here.

Everyone being funneled into college also devalued all degrees because the market was flooded with them, most of them being fake, and many of them having not even been earned. The quality of students also went down because they let people in that did not meet any reasonable academic standards, instead being chosen on the basis of their genitals and tan. Predatory student loans also created a massive debt bubble and incentivized Universities to encourage all that. It’s a giant mess. You can still do well there, but it’s really hard if you’re not going in knowing all that, and keeping to a real major and avoiding all the bullshit. I went to a top tier University, and saw so many people that couldn’t keep up in real majors, so they ended up in fake ones, and mostly have debt and colorful haircuts now.

4
realJohnBarron 4 points ago +4 / -0

Sadly true. Another shitty reality is that courses get the greenlight and renewed based on enrollment not on any merit of the course. So as a professor you can create a bullshit course, get butts in chairs, brainwash, grade easy, get paid, repeat.

3
ClownTamer 3 points ago +3 / -0

It gets perpetuated even further with ‘breadth’ requirements. I’d rather have ‘open units’. Let people take a few classes they want. If ones existed that improved your income after college, I guarantee seats in studies courses would be left to the rainbow folks.

I’ve still heard no coherent argument for why there should be departments for something like Chicano History outside of the general history department. I get why art history is separate from history and art, as it’s a very different thing. Studies still history courses are still history. There’s no reason to give them a special department. Considering History departments did just fine covering the whole of human history, I don’t see there being enough content to make a different department held in the same regard.

If people want to take the courses, great, but they’re always backed by bullshit public funding and whining, then get filled with rejects from real majors.

2
ThrupleBlindStudy 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is the truth right here.

Once universities realized that it’s easy to get an 18-year old to sign on the financing papers, they started pumping money into every bullshit program they could think of to increase the gravy train.

Every bullshit liberal arts degree invented after the 1980s is based in greed. Those idiots seeking those degrees and the fuckwits teaching them are totally unaware that their ideology is based in a business decision motivated by greed.

Take a stupid professor who can’t function in the real world and is not intelligent enough to complete a STEM program and let them teach bullshit to kids who aren’t intelligent enough to get into a STEM program and not mature enough to function in the real world.

Profit.

The socialist accelerationists love it and so do greedy universities.

Perhaps the gulag archipelago should be requires reading

1
Formerlurker92 1 point ago +1 / -0

I've heard it mentioned many times but haven't read it myself. Is it a hard read?

3
___HERO___ 3 points ago +3 / -0

Haven't read it yet either, but Jordan Peterson mentions it often in 12 rules for life (also an insightful read). A friend read it and said it was hard to read just because how miserable and dark the content is. Plan on picking it up soon

Communism was never intended to be workable. The point of Marx's work and the work of the asshole German philosophers leading up to Hegel was to create mind viruses in an effort to reverse the advances achieved through Rationalism that led to The Enlightenment.

Marx was a piece of shit who could not compete in the world of his time and blamed his shortcomings on the world around him.

The point of communism is to lead people away from the Truth by playing to the animal biases we are born with. The immediate goal is to revert society to feudalism, which is the default way humans organized society before The Enlightenment. Why do they do this? They do it because they are sure that they will be the ones in charge when the dust settles.

Nationalism is inheriting the house your father built and keeping it beautiful so that someday you can give it to your own children.

Globalism is opening your house to third world migrants, letting them trash the place, just so you can show everyone what a virtuous person you are.
