[Warning: Long Post Ahead]

So I need your help: I need some stats that I can trust. I need some good articles and graphs to show my wife the truth, and not fear-mongering. She is a strong woman, but has been stressed out so much (working from home while teaching 3 kids their school's lesson plans is HARD) I get to go to my office every day then come home and play with my kids.

A problem I have is that I don't trust the CDC or WHO. And that's a problem with the 'mask' situation. During our argument, I mean our DISCUSSION, she said the "CDC is still telling everyone to wear masks in public!"

I looked it up on their website, and yes, they do. But then they say it's to prevent you from getting OTHER people sick, in case you're sick and don't know it yet. The CDC is telling people to wear masks so they don't infect others, NOT to keep themselves safe.

And the CDC, WHO, state health department, etc. are always going to mitigate their liability. They're going to err on the side of caution, and recommend more drastic measures than are likely necessary. (If not downright lie; don't get me started on that!)

Long story long, I need help convincing my wife things are OK. I need help reassuring her things are OK. A lot of this is stress she is dealing with because she is trying to work full time at home (impossible) while watching 3 kids AND teaching them (and they're all in different grades, so different homework, lessons, videos, etc.)

Thank you if you were able to stay awake and read my entire post. :) I wish TDW had a sub (dom) for text posts like this, separate from the memes and hot-off-the-press news. More of a discussion-focused area.

Stay safe and MAGA-on!

Teach her about the appeal to authority fallacy because that's why she is behaving the way she is.

I think it is fear she is responding to. The mask is reassuring, even though it offers little if any protection. Like a placebo. You can't logic/argue a person out of fear. You have to reassure them out of fear. We are all trying. She is lucky to have you and your concern and love for her.

Thank you Ma'am, you put that very nicely! The mask DOES reassure her.

Someone else was telling me to let her make her own choices, as if I'm ripping the mask off her face (j/k).... I don't want my wife to stay scared and paranoid, like so many people in the USA and the world are.

I also don't want my kids to see it. I want them to feel free, and feel like they don't have to submit to the government. I don't want them to be afraid to go back to school because of "The Virus".

The fear, as you say, is definitely what is doing it. And that's why I asked in my OP for some REAL data, charts, graphs, etc. I can show to my wife, so she isn't so afraid! Because right now, she is only reading MSM and what they are saying the CDC says.

And I don't think many of 'us' here on TDW exactly trust the MSM right now (or ever)

Thank you!

Likely you will not convince her with a barrage of true data. As long as the fear is in charge, contradictory information will be overwhelming and confusing. Yes collect the true data, have it at hand to drop in small doses when/where the time feels right.

Love and reassurance will do much more to overcome the physical fear -- and she might be convinced to stay away from the upsetting messaging. I do not mean to imply she is weak or dumb: this messaging is intended to cause severe physical discomfort, as a threat to personal safety and well being. That is the way the body is built. It is hard to resist even when aware of what it is doing. It goes to the gut so to speak.

I am a lady elder Army 'pede, and even I have to fight every day for balance and perspective. That stuff, the psychological warfare on people, it works, do not underestimate it. Get away from it except to redpill others, and reassure your family!

Don't mean to be bossy. I for one am glad of this place. Were I the only one to draw the conclusions about this that I have, I would not be in a very healthy place. We all need support from others.
