[Warning: Long Post Ahead]

So I need your help: I need some stats that I can trust. I need some good articles and graphs to show my wife the truth, and not fear-mongering. She is a strong woman, but has been stressed out so much (working from home while teaching 3 kids their school's lesson plans is HARD) I get to go to my office every day then come home and play with my kids.

A problem I have is that I don't trust the CDC or WHO. And that's a problem with the 'mask' situation. During our argument, I mean our DISCUSSION, she said the "CDC is still telling everyone to wear masks in public!"

I looked it up on their website, and yes, they do. But then they say it's to prevent you from getting OTHER people sick, in case you're sick and don't know it yet. The CDC is telling people to wear masks so they don't infect others, NOT to keep themselves safe.

And the CDC, WHO, state health department, etc. are always going to mitigate their liability. They're going to err on the side of caution, and recommend more drastic measures than are likely necessary. (If not downright lie; don't get me started on that!)

Long story long, I need help convincing my wife things are OK. I need help reassuring her things are OK. A lot of this is stress she is dealing with because she is trying to work full time at home (impossible) while watching 3 kids AND teaching them (and they're all in different grades, so different homework, lessons, videos, etc.)

Thank you if you were able to stay awake and read my entire post. :) I wish TDW had a sub (dom) for text posts like this, separate from the memes and hot-off-the-press news. More of a discussion-focused area.

Stay safe and MAGA-on!

Let her do what makes her comfortable. But it should be a clean mask, washed if reusable, or a new one if disposable. You do yourself harm by wearing a dirty mask. And you have to take it off being very careful not to touch the outside, which is where people's germs have been trapped.

She also doesn't want to get stared at or hassled.

This will pass in time. She isn't going to wear a mask forever.

Everybody is stressed now. This isn't worth the friction.

She keeps her mask hanging from her rear-view mirror. She is careful with her phone, keeps it in a bag to use (to check the shopping list). Takes it out of the bag outside the store after her gloves are off.

But she hasn't used UV light on her mask, and hasn't tried heating it in the oven.

And we only have a few masks at home (we had them in the garage for projects; can't find anywhere to buy them)

Thank you

OK they are available now online. But a clean kerchief will do fine. I am not sure she should dangle things from the rear view mirror, might block visibility and distract.

She sounds like a very careful and organized woman, very nice. Intelligent.

Kerchiefs and large men's handkerchiefs are available online. And will be useful when this is over.

Just putting a mask in strong sunlight for a half hour would do it good. Even inside a window. Outside might be even better.

Young children must not be around strings. They choke themselves.
