From a pure campaign strategy stand point, it’d be a terrible combination and one that would likely send independents and those only bordering on Trump absolutely sprinting for Republican all the way.
I still adamantly believe their best shot was Bloomberg (don’t like him, but he was their best chance). He was a pretty tame and moderate Democrat so he’d capture a lot of the undecideds, had an unquestionably successful business career and a not-terrible tenure as mayor which would likely appeal to RINOs that dislike Trump and lend him an air of credibility. But of course, the ever-so-edgy Sanders supporters couldn’t stand the idea of a person successful being on the ticket (maybe it’d remind them of their own shortcomings and failures?) and that gave him the boot. Almost ironic in a way.
