The US eats approximately 25 MILLION chickens per DAY. I haven’t read the stories to be honest, so I cannot comment on whether there is something going on with something nefarious by any type of bad actor etc, but this is a drop in the bucket, a big bucket. Take that into context before everyone freaks out.
You are correct about big bucket. US also has over 400 million laying hens. Big bucket.
