California had the spine of a red state, but we've had so much immigration that it's a lost cause. I don't even mean illegal immigration; for decades, the scum of towns across the rest of America have been drawn to the lights of LA. Think of anyone you know who had aspirations of being an actor or actress, they are all weak willed people who will go along with whatever is seen as cool, no questions asked. I've only spent a few months in San Francisco area, so I'm not sure what their problem is -- they were liberal back in the 50's and probably further, when even LA county was still conservative from all the citrus farmers and factory workers -- but I know they draw liberals from across the country, too.
California used to draw a tough breed, the kind of people who would risk everything for a better life. Such people are the minority now, and their numbers are shrinking, as I have seen many conservative friends and family flee to states like Arizona, Idaho, and Texas.
I'm guessing Detroit (who voted her in and can't really ever go outside anyway) doesn't care and is happy because muh "Covid racial task force on racism and racist viruses and free stuff based on garbage stats"

Upstate New York is being held hostage by New York City. I love this state but the people in power here are garbage.
