A little?...How's about THE LOT...open up everything starting NOW. Quarantine the nursing homes. The sick and aged should stay at home or wear a mask when out and about among people.

Yep.

Barr is already on it with the governors. He's told the US attorneys to start documenting.

To do things legally takes time because you want to document EVERYTHING.

You want to document that the person is out of line.

You want to document that you tried everything.

You need a solid paper trail.

When you take them to court, you don't want them getting off.

Him playing politics isnt a good excuse either. Americans will be losing even more jobs, at this point its exponential, so even just 1 week of lockdown is astronomical. Trump is letting months pile up now, all just so he can "win" in november when hes already winning! Like others have said, at this point its diminishing returns.

Everyone whos gonna vote for him is gonna vote for him, and those who wont at this point are already too far gone with TDS. Trump is maybe gaining slightly more votes but also, letting the democrats do even more damage. Not a worthy trad eoff. He needs to override the governors now.

1
bloodyminded 1 point ago +2 / -1

Frustration is not policy.

If he starts overriding the governors, then the Dems will suddenly care about the Constitution and state's rights. This in turn will launch another impeacment circus.

It's not ideal, but letting the governors hang themselves is probably the only play.

Totally agree. Keeping things shut down while promising this magical V shaped comeback is a recipe for disaster in November. An economy as big as ours doesn't turn on a dime. Especially after being shutdown for months on end. We also need to account for all the people that won't go out and spend after shutdown is lifted. The sooner we open the sooner we can move toward and upturn.

He needs the local governments to capitulate and do the right thing on their own. It's the only way to show legitimacy of government on both state and federal level, as well as drive home the concept that the government is for the people and by the people.

Daddy can't do our work for us all the time. The states need to rein in their own governors or they will be forever dependent on fed intervention.

8

Agreed, the problem we're facing is in times of crisis lots of people want to have someone they trust make all the decisions for them. Not everyone, mind you.

It's a mindset that gravitates toward leftist ideology though, a servile and feminine point of view. It craves a Daddy figure to think for them.

This is not the mindset that drafted our constitution, those were men who risked execution by England to forge a new nation.

“Trump is a dictator”

“Trump is a tyrant”

He acknowledged the power of 50 governors ...30 of them will do the right thing and be a leader. 20 will not. Those 20 states would have blamed Trump no matter what, and still will blame him, but he took away their talking point. It’s completely on their shitty governors now. They would have happily held the entire country hostage, now it’s just their state. And the juxtaposition with other non-tyrant governors will be so stark come November

7
Gyrfalcon 7 points ago +8 / -1

30 of them will do the right thing and be a leader. 20 will not. Those 20 states would have blamed Trump no matter what, and still will blame him

The Karen's of the world will blame him. When I look at the /r/Michigan sub, I find myself wondering how many actually live in Michigan.

3

Well within each states you’re looking at 40% ish on each side anyway with ~10% of people that don’t give a fuck particularly. So for example within California you still have +35% hardcore conservatives

1
AstronoMink 1 point ago +1 / -0

2 x 40% + ~10% = ~90%

I'm curious what happened to the other 10%? That's an awfully large margin of error, so should I assume election fraud? ;p Kek

2

20
VoltronGreen1981 20 points ago +20 / -0

Because he wants these governors to continue to self-sabotage. He wants their voter base disgusted with them come November, and he's doing it from a seemingly pacifistic point of view. He's being rational while they are demonstrating their tyrannical mindset.

In NYC, "the rate of death for people 18 to 45 years old is 0.01 percent, or 10 per 100,000 in the population. On the other hand, PEOPLE AGED 75 OR OVER HAVE A DEATH RATE 80 TIMES THAT."

"Of all fatal cases in New York state, two-thirds were in patients over 70 years of age; more than 95 percent were over 50 years of age; and about 90 percent of all fatal cases had an underlying illness."

If old overweight sickly Boris can survive (believe he's had pneumina before) and 73-year-old Prince Charles ("very mild for me, ol chap") 63 yo old Tom Hanks (diabetic?) and Rand Paul with his missing lungs--then y know something's up. Nowhere near as deadly as the 1918 Spanish Flu which apparently had a peculiar morbidity profile where it targeted the YOUNGER people in droves; and left the older ones relatively unscathed. Now THAT'S a virus worth quarantining for (i.e to protect the young; the future).

3
Getfuckedcommietrash 3 points ago +4 / -1

The spanish flu killed young people because they had healthy immune systems. The flu caused a cytokine storm in their body, so the stronger their immune system the more damage it did to their body. The young people that die from chinese flu also likely died from a cytokine storm.

1
CashMAGA 1 point ago +1 / -0

If I remember correctly part of what was wrong with the Spanish Flu was that people didn't KNOW that it was a virus, so they were trying to treat it with penicillin.

Spez: I was wrong.

3
bitterbut_true 3 points ago +3 / -0

Wrong. Penicillin wasn't discovered until 1928.

Thanks! Saving your comment so I can reference until I've memorized that.

6
NostalgicFuturist 6 points ago +7 / -1

Viruses in general are weird and unpredictable as to their effects and target population. I read that the Spanish Flu primarily affected YOUNGER people--late teens through 40s.

Incidentally, seems it came from China, too.....

6
Tardigrade 6 points ago +6 / -0

Thats because it threw the immune system into overdrive, to grossly oversimplify things. If you had a shitty immune system like most old people, you were ok.

Also, I wonder if the olds had some immunity from another outbreak in 1880. I dont know if theres solid evidence for that though.

0
NostalgicFuturist 0 points ago +1 / -1

Thanks, very informative!

0
Getfuckedcommietrash 0 points ago +1 / -1

Yup. It caused a cytokine storm, nasty stuff. The cytokine storm makes your immune system attack itself. The stronger the immune system was the more damage the cytokine storm causes to the organs. The young people that have died from covid also likely died from cytokine storms.

4
xx0725 4 points ago +4 / -0

I read that the Spanish Flu primarily affected YOUNGER people--late teens through 40s.

The Spanish Flu was the exact opposite of Covid-19. It killed the healthy and robust, while leaving the old and weak untouched.

That was a scary virus. This virus is a complete joke by comparison.

I saw an article this morning, maybe it was in USA Today, about how Texas towns opened too early and now there's a "boom" of new cases. If you read the article, they only had one example of this phenomenon to share, and it was concerning one small town in the middle of nowhere that experienced an outbreak in their local nursing home that started this past week. How can you definitively link that to Texas opening up "too soon" ?

14

Texas opened today. How did they have the "story" so quick?

6
Rip_the_donaldII 6 points ago +6 / -0

Careful. You've had a bit too much to think.

6
Tardigrade 6 points ago +6 / -0

Why did you read the article? If you would have only reacted to the headline the media would have achieved the desired reaction but you had to ruin it.

6
thisisatestof2 6 points ago +6 / -0

In my town we have a high number of deaths. However over 60% came from the two nursing homes and many of the others were elderly who lived at home but had pre-existing conditions.

1
DonJr2024 1 point ago +1 / -0

Add to that, counting all deaths as covid. Life expectancy in a nursing home is measured in months. In the best of times people are dying steadily.

Whitler needs the legislature to approve an extension of a state of emergency after 28 days under the 1976 emergency law. The did once at her request, but they refused to extend it yesterday.

She decided to extend it anyway, somehow saying that she has the power to do this under the 1945 emergency law, even though the 1976 law explicitly lists a pandemic as an emergency (unlike the 1945 law) and requires that the legislature approve the extension. She is also using powers granted by the 1976 law.

The legislature is suing and it seems to me to be an open and shut case.

If the judiciary sides with Whitler, there will be massive public disobedience.

This. We aren't Antifa or BLM. We don't use a crisis as an excuse for general mayhem and destruction. That's what communists do. If actual force becomes necessary, our side tends to be skilled, trained, and experienced enough to be able to use that force only in essential ways against targets that truly need it. There's no need to burn down buildings or hurt innocent people. Hopefully the judicious use of force will make it necessary not to hurt anyone. The best outcome would be taking the Governor into custody, removing her flunkies from office, ensuring a peaceful special election, and seeing her and her cabal tried and convicted in court.

The Left and the media will report potus' tweet like this: "TRUMP JUST TWEETED THAT THE FEMALE GOVERNOR OF MICHIGAN 'should give a lttle and put out'...OMG!!!! He wantd to grab het pussy!!!!!"

And the leftist psychiatrists will say it was an intentional string of words and Trump wants to rape her.

No I'm sorry but this is not a "deal" to be made. These are their RIGHTS, to be taken back

Here in MN they keep admitting that a MAJORITY of the 300-ish deaths have been in nursing homes. Aka, this virus kills the old, nearly dead, and already sick. Aka, it's the new (Wu) flu bro.

Yet they keep extending, and tossing meaningless bones like "you can go to the park now". Hey fuckface, going outside was never an issue, even of you said it was. Everyone--literally--has been packing grocery stores and you didn't even blink.

This is SUCH a sham. They're predicting they're going to keep barbershops and restaurants/bars closed past May and into the summer. These businesses will NEVER recover. Meanwhile, every single big chain store and restaurant is open for business.

The unemployment rate is this country must be just shy of 25% right now and it's going to get worse. We've lost 30M jobs and there were only 151M to begin with. We are FUCKED and they're doing this ON PURPOSE. They don't even talk about the economic fallout. They are so fucking dumb!

Ky governer said you can't eat at a restaurant with a mask on so they don't get to open......until a vaccine is available. We have to wear masks until the vaccine comes out. Now I don't expect this to stand.. however it was put out there

The median death age is higher than the fucking life expectancy. Seriously.

This virus is culling a bunch of people who should've died ages ago, and would've died at literally any other point in history.

Yeah, everything you said.

I'm in MI. Talked with some friends the other day, and the one was harping on people for wanting to garden and paint, which is soooo unnecessary, apparently. I told her people are literally losing their businesses and livelihoods because they can't paint or sell their plants. Then, no joke, she turns to our other friend and throws a fit that she didn't bring her hair cutting scissors and acts like she's going to die because she hasn't had a trim in a month. I wanted to smack her, but I don't think there's any sense there in the first place.

Our unemployment rate is on par with the height of the Great Depression (around 25%) according to a Glen Beck show I listened to the other morning.

Now please tweet about our little Napoleon in Ohio. Dewine acted like May 1st was the big day but now another stay at home order until end of May. Some business opening mid-May but has no idea when salons and restaurants will be allowed to open. I guess the protests did nothing. Hope he enjoys his one term.

He knows that too, he just wants it publicly on record that she failed to even listen to what they have to say.

I am sorry Mr. President, but our rights and freedoms are not a bargaining chip. WE HAVE NO OBLIGATION OR RIGHT TO GIVE ANY OF THEM UP!

That's out POTUS. A reasoning voice with Witch Widmer asking to give a little. It's a 2 way street My cousin lives in Michigan and thinks she's great. I've been trying intervention but it ain't easy. She's a sheeple.
