You are exactly right, we have been captured by the medical industrial complex. I watched these two videos I found a few days ago on Legal Insurrection and I am now of the opinion that when we win this we need to overhaul everything about health care.
I never downvote a pede, and I won't down vote you, but as the other guy said, Dr Drew got his start dealing with the AIDS epidemic. Stand up guy, but unfortunately cowed by the cancel culture. Still does the right thing on most issues, but retreats into silence when his income gets threatened by the mob.
Ok, so I actually don’t care and this is a really weird thing to be passionate about. He’s a legitimate doctor (Dr. Phil also has legit credentials so who cares?) but as I was looking up what field of medicine he practices I saw this, which was pretty comical in this context:
“The British Medical Journal published a study that found more than half of the recommendations on medical talk series including The Dr. Oz Show had either no evidence or contradicted medical research.”
So first off, I wasn’t necessarily defending “medical research” although “medical research bad” is kind of a silly road to take in my opinion. Sure there are negatives attributed to it- there are also millions of people living today that would be dead without it.
About Oz, I don’t think he’s “bad”.. More like he would push stupid stuff like- “Agave syrup is suuuuper healthy for you and is all natural and you should eat it every day, yay!”
When in fact agave has more calories per table spoon than sugar and is mostly fructose (part of the problem with high fructose corn syrup is that the way fructose metabolites enter either glycolysis or the Krebs cycle, can’t remember, makes it more advantageous for the body to store it- as fat. You avoid a little of this when eating fruit because of a fair fiber content.
It’s not that agave is unhealthy per se, but it’s not necessary something I would push as very beneficial in anyway, and depending on your audience (diabetics) I suppose it Could be dangerous. He then came out and said “sorry folks, forget everything i said about agave”, but it wasn’t based on New info, we’ve know that about agave for forever.
I don’t think he’s malicious, I just wouldn’t take medical advice from him.
He's also been reprimanded by several medical organizations and thousands of doctors for absolute quackery. Yes he is a legit medical doctor and a surgeon, but he peddles all kinds of useless supplements and "advice" to make money. And he well knows that people can exacerbate real medical conditions by buying into that garbage, but he doesn't care as long as he makes a buck.
He's the worst kind of doctor...one who knows better but likes money too much to tell the truth. He's made millions and gained fame and celebrity by telling lies. He's evil.

Ever wonder why AIDS used to kill people in less than a year? Dr Phil hasn't participated in any genocides that I know of.

I get why you’d say that, but the rules exist for more of a macro reason. Being a psychologist, you’re tapping into people’s deep emotions and that power is extremely abusable. There was an issue with psychologists doing exactly that and screwing emotionally vulnerable patients who came to them seeking a safe person to help them. So to address it, the rule was made, don’t ever. Get your rocks off elsewhere. I think the rule is a good one, but the truth is, yes there are many 1:1 cases where it wouldn’t be harmful.
