  1. One of the duties of government is to protect the general population from obsessed doctors and mad scientists and zealous tyrants.

So they sent college kids home from campuses. Screwed the Class of 2020 out of prom and graduation. Created 30 million on unemployment. Destroyed small businesses. Had many people put off surgeries and medical treatments. Kept people from holding religious services. Hurt K-12 students by cancelling the rest of the school year. Enacted arbitrary restrictions. Destroyed the economy...and now they say it’s just a flu.

We knew this all along here, but the frustrating thing is that the “experts” at the CDC failed to realize all the unintended consequences from their push for mass hysteria.

Fire them all. No more fake models.

David Beasley, the executive director of the World Food Programme, has warned the UN Security Council that the world is "on the brink of a hunger pandemic" that could lead to "multiple famines of biblical proportions".

Oopsie CDC

You are destroying the world with these lockdowns over a virus the vast majority of people recover from. You know what’s harder to recover from? The fallout from poor economic decisions. Unintended consequences are always the ramifications of short sighted policy.

This is where the shortened link redirects:

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/covid-data/covidview/index.html

And, this is the data they appear to be referencing:

https://gis.cdc.gov/grasp/COVIDNet/COVID19_3.html

Change it to display by "weekly rate" in the upper left corner.

Says the CDC? Better knock of 2 zeros then.

Maybe dumping milk, plowing under crops and killing farm animals isn't such a great idea? If the states can't get the processing plants going bring in the Army Corps of Engineers and the National Guard. This was a several week pause, the plants grew and the animals ate, it's not like an asteroid collision blocked out the sun.

Think about all cancer and heart disease patients that are having to wait for treatment.

Hell, think about all the people having to wait for cancer screening.

The reason why I know this was definitely a Communist plot is because their shit always ends in mass starvation. Every. Single. Time.

It does say that "Hospitalization rates for COVID-19 in adults (18-64 years) are higher than hospitalization rates for influenza at comparable time points* during the past 5 influenza seasons."

19
thxpk 19 points ago +19 / -0

So it's a very severe flu, no one of us said otherwise, but it's still the fucking flu and we destroyed the economy for it. People need to be jailed for this, starting with Fauci. Make them fucking pay for their destructive policies.

11
SilentFreedom 11 points ago +11 / -0

What I find interesting is the third bullet: For children (0-17 years), COVID-19 hospitalization rates are much lower than influenza hospitalization rates during recent influenza seasons. So for our kids are harmed more by the flu then Wuhan virus.

HockeyMom4Trump 7 points ago +7 / -0

Well, medically I suppose, but look at the harm this virus has really caused them...cancelling school, many have parents out of work that might struggle to pay bills or feed them, isolated from friends, Class of 2020 misses prom and graduation, many children have been unable to get preventive care or medical procedure...

Guess the CDC was so focused on their “flattening the curve” that they ended up doing more harm than good. Perhaps a few elderly people could possibly live a bit longer, but how many lives around the world will be lost because of this shutdown?

Tuber 4 points ago +4 / -0

So the futures of our young people were hamstrung to preserve the lives of the old and sick? That's the exact opposite of the natural order. The adults are supposed to do whatever they can to preserve the life and future of the young.

Quarantining everyone, including healthy and young, just to protect the old and vulnerable, is selfish and short sighted (year perspective instead of generational perspective).

1
HockeyMom4Trump 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yes. I love how young people are “selfish” for wanting school and graduation ceremonies, but old people who expect everyone to become unemployed, businesses to close are apparently not selfish. Clown world.

  1. Are those diagnoses based on presumptive (symptomatic) assessments, or PCR tests?

  2. PCR tests (polymerase chain reaction) are not quantitative, ie., binary (yes/no), but rather qualitative (they require a subjective determination)

Don’t forget that there is a flu vaccine that 50% of Americans take. The comparison doesn’t consider this.
