Ask yourself: Would we secure political and media assets within rival nations and activate them to shut down those nations after a virus we released caused global panic? If you don’t think so then I would argue you are clueless about the unelected people running our government. Heck, they wouldn’t hesitate to do it to US if they saw a benefit in it. I sometimes wonder whether the apparent over-reaction to Covid-19 is more of a precautionary measure to prepare for the possibility of another more rigorous bio attack or ballistic attack from China.
For example, what if the Covid-19 that we know now was actually a premature release? What if some of the workers in the lab got cold feet or had a guilty conscience and intentionally released the virus "early" as a means to thwart/show-the-hand of what China really had brewing?
I don't know...
The only way I can somewhat justify the current -- what I feel to be -- overreaching measures of the US and its states is if this whole charade is really an attempt to get the populace to remain ignorant (read: "put on a happy face") while the world braces and prepares for what could be the start of a WW3-esque event. Clear out hospitals to prep for HUGE influx of carnage, keep people collected in-doors to help with containment/cleanup/aftermath, etc etc.
If I assume good intentions by state and federal actors (and yeah, that's one helluva stretch), then it seems to me this has to be something greater than an 11k co-morbidity virus to warrant all of this. Surely! ("And don't call me Shirley!")
I'm more spit-balling here than anything else since there's no way to vet anything like this. That, and to me, I see little utility in walking too far out in the weeds concerning matters I have literally zero control and influence over. But as a thought exercise? As a "fun" what-if type thing, especially in light of what we know today with regard to the three-letter agencies and beyond? Yeah, in that context, I find it's relatively harmless to speculate.
