Do you know a doctor personally? I’ve worked with doctors and I have one in my family. They are crazy. Granted, becoming a doctor is hard. However, some of them are batshit crazy. Also, while I will go to a doc for medical attention, I have a healthy distrust of the advice they dole out. I try to eat right, exercise, be emotionally healthy and stay away from doctors at all costs.
I wouldn’t trust someone that doesn’t understand gender with responsibilities that extend beyond choosing between a fork or a spoon.
To what the OP said, I know plenty of based doctors, and plenty that are not. Part of the reason a lot now suck at their job is because there is so much red tape on them that they have to do medicine by numbers based on the result of committee decisions to get insurance companies to pay for things. They don’t get to decide what they do in most cases. Plenty of them would love to do better medicine and know how, but they’re not permitted to by the regulations in place. They would be let go by their institution, lose their license, and even if they somehow went solo and didn’t lose their license, no insurance would cover them for falling out of line. Those regulations are also designed to push bad science and expensive pharma drugs that turn people into money dispensers until they die, rather than preventing illness or helping them.
Get rid of the regulations, and insurance requirements, and I guarantee within 5 years the entire medical system will be upended to provide better service. Costs would plummet to consumers because someone would actually be able to do that. They’d simply out compete them. Open up telemedicine more and let doctors compete from all over the nation. I work with someone like that and he’s wonderful. If I want a test on something, I just pay for the test and get tested privately, and we can do whatever thereafter. He lives somewhere cheap so a small monthly fee to him to have him 24/7 via text or anything else is enough to have him rolling.
The cost of most generic meds would also plummet, and more would be opened up. Testosterone for men, for example, is more effective at treating diabetes than any diabetes medication ever devised. Also dirt cheap, if regulations weren’t in place, but still cheap otherwise compared to other things even given that.
Opening up pot and things like HRT would do away with roughly 60-80% of treatments. Letting doctors practice medicine on their own terms would as well. Good ones would be richer, bad ones would need to find a new profession or get better.
Just look what Uber did to the Taxi industry. Random people with iPhones are better Taxi drivers now. Things like this are the real reason that American medicine is an over priced death merchant.
