The University system of tenure was supposed to protect professors who proposed unpopular or unorthodox positions in their fields, NOT to protect professors who are simply ass holes to other people simply because "tenure" let's them get away with it.

University tenure needs to be returned to its original intent, and not allow it to protect vulgar, insulting, careless, or arrogant people who are professors from being terminated.

Yes. It's an abuse. And the process of getting tenure depends on department politics. Over not very long time at all the department is a tight little club allowing only like minds in. These like minds are the "peers" in peer-reviewed papers/journals and the reason I scoff at the idea that peer-review means shit.

The main value in peer-review (especially if it's blind) is that scientists are vain and genuinely don't want someone else to publish something if they can stop it.

Peer-review today keeps a great amount of monstrous SJW propaganda from being published, as much of it as we already get, there would be even more without peer-review.

But SJW's have been complaining about peer-review for years, so I'd expect it to be destroyed any day now.

Tenured professors get fired all of the time - it's a myth they are un-fire-able.

Only if they are found to hold conservative beliefs, or in some egregious way shone a bad light upon the Faithful of the Left.

Change my mind.

Can't someone make a claim as an anonymous student that she is making them feel unsafe, committing microaggressions and silencing voices, etc.?

Lol.

I am sure that after a 'official review' of the situation, the university would determine that whatever student claimed this was wrong, and instead was being racist, insensitive and bigoted by not having a more open mind to 'new ideas'. Then they would cite some crap about how the school has x-number of POC in various positions throughout the faculty, as if this somehow absolves them from these complaints.

It would be more funny if it wasn't so probable.

Anonymously, of course. Yes! Turn their own tactics against them!

When they bang undergrads - fired on the spot, usually leftists get caught doing that.

You're right, it's not hard to get rid of someone, if the administration or someone in the department doesn't like a teacher with tenure, they'll just remove the position because of the "budget" or "restructuring". Then as soon as they can, they'll open it back up again.

Haha. She's a dumbass. There's literally a self-inflicted recession or depression going on.

Can you give us a few examples of tenured professors who have recently (<10yrs) been fired and for what they have been fired for?

Edit: Just saw your post ref undergrads. That is the only reason I've heard of them being fired. Obnoxious ass holes, unresponsive to student needs, incompetent in instruction, political hacks (not in a political study area) ... I am hard-pressed to think of one given the boot.

It's crazy because she's using her tenure to push the MOST orthodox and MOST popular opinions possible
