The richest African American in the US has gotten a little more based throughout this Chinese virus 🦠 debacle!

And he started with a "hur dur saving the economy" meme before that: Planet is hit by a meteor, guy on the moon watches it and says "oh no, the economy!"

I guess things caught up to people with moderate amount of wisdom. Elon is sure smart, but he lacks wisdom... but not that much.

If you listen closely, you can actually hear the triggering of lefty environmentalists who once praised Elon as a green ideologue.

Heh, that’s cute. I work in the energy side.

He’s actually not forcing us to work. We are constantly told to stay home if we’re feeling sick. Many of us volunteered to continue working through CV, myself included.

I didn't buy one his cars because I gave fuck about the environment. I bought one because it is a cool toy, and it runs on American coal.

Funny thing is, I'm a righty who does think global warming is a problem. I think the left oversells the immediacy of the threat, but I do have a long term concern for environmental issues. I think it's less man-made than demagogues like to screech, but still man made enough to matter.

I also don't think the government has any responsibility for it whatsoever. I think the free market has to care and want to do what I can now, and that we won't see economically viable alternatives until people see and feel a need for someone to build a greener "mousetrap", as it were. You can't force people to care, and a market propped by subsidies rather than true demand will not innovate.

Elon Musk cares enough to do it out of sincere interest, has his own demand for the product, creates it, and builds hype and desire for his own greener products with sales points beyond 'fear' and 'duty.' He makes cool shit and his electric cars are a status symbol instead of a good deed you buy to "take one for the team."

He's the green idealogue we need.

Mother Earth has been blasted with meteors to the great effect of making dinosaurs extinct as the sun was blocked out for thousands of years.

We got over it.

1
HumblePig 1 point ago +5 / -4

Oh, absolutely. A non man-made event could easily render even a whole millennia of our best efforts absolutely moot, and a volcano going off could make everyone's attempt to reduce their carbon footprint the most fleeting joke of our species' time.

I'd still prefer to do what we can to preserve the ozone layer, maintain air, water, and soil quality, and to keep the ecosystem we've evolved to thrive in as relatively stable as we can. A meteor could render it all moot, but that goes for anything we do in life.

MikeVicksAstrologist 7 points ago +7 / -0

Then really all we have to do is take a sledgehammer to China's and India's manufacturing sector (by not buying their cheap overpriced shit, love ya India, but New Delhi smells like unwashed asshole after a triathlon in June).

people who think they can save the planet are borderline retarded

5
HowardRoark 5 points ago +5 / -0

People who think they can save the planet usually can't even save themselves. Jordan Peterson has to tell them to clean their room 🤣

4
DontApologize 4 points ago +4 / -0

Global Warming will improve the food supply.. as more CO2 means more food and more people. I get why lefties don't like it - but I am not worried. Back when we had tons of CO2 this planet was overflowing with life.

If the Dutch can build dams 100's of years ago - we can handle some sea level rise and such..

Leftists like to pretend that everyone on the right denies global warming - but in reality people are skeptical on the what will happen with limited warming.

Covid is a great great example of this. We don't deny the existence of the virus. People deny that the lockdown is a good approach to combatting it.

Sure the environment might warm a little - that doesn't mean we need the green new deal. Likewise people will die from the coronavirus - that doesn't mean socialism/fascism is the right solution for it.

2
FlexPowerhouse 2 points ago +4 / -2

The problem isn't the climate, it's the damage to the environment and the toxic chemical released during extraction and processing. The greater earth will recover, but you will slowly be poisoned. The air and water are filling up with toxic chemicals, and they accumulate in wildlife and the food you eat eventual poising you into a leftist like chemical coma.

If you're not filtering your water, especially tap water you are doing harm to yourself. Don't be shy to detox every once in a while, those heavy metals accumulate inside you.

Stay healthy pedes, we have a long fight ahead of us.

I don’t disagree.

The evolution of more environmentally sound industry is a natural progression that is very much at play. Hard wired into economic principle: produce more with less.

It is inevitable- and just look how far we have come the past 120 years for proof.

Musk is brilliant, the point is: I find it hilarious that he takes one step in opposition to the plantation and the slaves all REEE. They are forced to grapple between independent thought from a (former) pillar of their ideology and the masters holding the chains.

Elon with the Red Pills is exactly the kind of guy to administer them for mass consumption.

The man started a company out of college and sold for it hundreds of millions. He took that and created a new-age car company in record time, and a rocket engineering company. Fell into batteries along the way to further success. He is a proud immigrant and has our flag pasted on the side of every one of his rockets that leave our planet for space. Some complain he uses subsidies from the govt but he’s a businessman, use what you can. Pretty sure he paid off one of them. Now those rockets are going to carry our astronauts (so we can stop bumming rides from Russia, as we still do...) and his cars are the safest on the road. I’d say he’s the apex of what many consider a true entrepreneur.

Apparently he was bullied as a kid in South Africa. Wouldn't surprise me if that made him more based, especially if it was not er....... his demographic doing the bullying.

8
BTFO 8 points ago +9 / -1

Be white and go to an inner liberal city high school that is primarily Black American students. Take school seriously. You'll see first hand how much you are bullied.

6
BurgerChef90 6 points ago +6 / -0

Hell, be black and go to that school and take it seriously and you'll be bullied for being "too white."

It's really simple.

But, simple isn't easy for liberals, socialists, and wanna-be-tyrants. It's not abstract enough, so as it can be twisted to meet their false beliefs.

Glad to see Elon standing up for freedom.

6
mintyfresh 6 points ago +6 / -0

We might be watching an actual "John Galt" type metamorphosis. It's still too early to tell.

6
cccpneveragain 6 points ago +6 / -0

There's a ton of things he says I don't like and a ton of things he says that I do. What I do have respect for is that he thinks for himself and is outspoken but not subject to the liberal groupthink. That is in very short supply for public figures (that aren't politicians).

Guy is a good salesman.. I never wanted to buy an electric car before - seems dumb because you have to recharge it so often and it takes so long.

But now I am actually rooting for Tesla.

1
EMP2024 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm tempted, but the upfront costs are hard to get over, and Tesla makes it extremely difficult to use 3rd party repair centers.

They can remotely brick the car if they don't like what you've done with it, but that's probably not gonna be an issue for most people.

Fascism is such an overused word. Fascism does not mean tyranny. Fascism is a type of national socialism(not National Socialism, like the Nazis). Socialism results in tyrannical governments, but that doesn’t mean we should mix the words.

1

He's working on that because he said he eventually realized that AI will become a problem in he future no matter what. How best to try and stop it, or use for our benefit if not researching it yourself and trying to understatnd how it works?
